Run, but you can't hide from Bush War on Terra: sell an apple, go to Gitmo
U.S. casts wide net in war on terror
Petty criminals among catch at Guantanamo, papers show

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - New documents on the Guantanamo detainees suggest the Bush administration has cast a wide net in its war on terror. But the U.S. has often come up empty as American troops picked up suspects with descriptions as varied as a Kazakh apple seller and a Pakistani millionaire.

Evidence against the apple seller, for example, showed he had been captured by the Taliban and forced to work as a cook.

In fact, the man told his U.S. military tribunal, he was only a cook’s helper, and had never heard of al-Qaida or the Taliban until he was kidnapped and conscripted by Afghanistan’s former hardline Islamic regime.

“I never had a weapon. I never carried a weapon with me and I’ve never been in any kind of armed fight,” he said in one of hundreds of military hearings held to determine whether detainees at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay are being properly held without charges as “enemy combatants.”

1. When these guys are out of power and the world starts to take a real
look at what they've done, they'd better be wondering where they can go in this world and not expect to face war crimes charges.

2. See my post #10 in this thread on the Pak millionaire businessman

The apple sellers and the cooks and other random imprisonments from this dragnet may just be cover--a smokescreen--for the real targets: Bush junta illicit business enemies, and witnesses/potential whistleblowers to their global crimes. Part of the reason for such imprisonments may be a campaign of terror and humiliation against Muslim men--possibly inspired by the Neo-Con camp. But I strongly suspect that the main purpose of this extralegal prison system was/is to protect the Bush Cartel and its nefarious dealings around the world, in societies in which individuals who are dangerous to them, or are mere rivals to their friends, can be whisked off without much fuss. The corollary, in ours and other western societies, is the vast domestic spying operation, with which to blackmail and oppress the political opposition, and also to protect vast thievery of government coffers, and vast ripoffs of the American people by Bush-friendly corporate rulers, and to punish/destroy any honest or rival business.

We need to think big, like these criminals do. And we need to think in reverse, like they do. Whatever they SAY they are doing--protecting us from "terrorism" (with a filthy rotten extralegal prison system, for instance)--the opposite is true. They are protecting THEMSELVES (from us!)--and are INFLICTING terrorism to cover up their crimes.

We are nitpicky about "evidence" before we accuse anyone--because we are democrats with a small d, progressives, believers in due process, fairness and good government. They are not. They are master criminals with grand criminal schemes that we need to suss out and understand. As with the non-transparent "election" in 2004 (Bushite corporations counting all the votes with 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code--I mean, come on...), the non-transparency of this prison system should have been a RED ALERT with all bells ringing from the start. What the hell have they been up to? What the hell do they NEED THIS for? To keep us safe? Right.

Assume the worst. That's my rule of thumb for the Bush junta. And LOOK for the evidence.
