NOT in "Lockstep be ignored on DU?

Sure seems to me that's the "mantra."

Am I wrong? Just thinking that any mentions that or Democratic Leadershp Conference "might have gone amok."

BUT, THAT SAID:

WHO ARE WE?

WHAT ARE WE ABOUT

AND....WHY ARE WE HERE ON "DU?"

DU is, over all, progressive. The DLC doesn't seem to be quite so much. Breathe KoKo, breathe. These are crazy making days. Something's up. It's in the air.

5. A conversation I have had with myself in the last few days.
Stop & consider who is pushing this divisive meme. Then take that knowledge and use it to inform your opinion, I suggest there is nothing to gain by going elsewhere at this juncture.

I think all of us progressives who speak out have taken multiple flamings for the same reasons regarding this topic. Illegitimae Non Carborundum!

6. I have found some DU forums are more tolerant of the DLC than others.
I have found GD: politics more tolerant than GD which is more tolerant than Election Reform.

10. Amazing someone thinks it's DU's "mantra" to be in lockstep with the DLC
Since most days there are several anti-DLC threads running.

And then there are the threads predicting that 2008 won't have a DLC nominee because it will be John Edwards (DLC) or Al Gore (DLC)

LOL! Just LOL!

anyone in DC to work together for this nation's even wider spectrum of views?

My undergod, people get so absurdly sensitive around here - why the fock does it have to be one way or another? Life just isn't focking like that.

I grew up in a family with 12 kids - 14 people day in and day out and you learn the give and take in life.

And guess what? Some people actually like BOTH dogs and cats, too, and don't think it's all about choosing one over the other.

Both sides go overboard, but, it's not the end of the world, fer chrissakes.

Deal with me here. I'm devastated............I cannot understand this.

Childhood friend who seems to be a Freeper? I go way back...Southern ROOTS...and I CANNOT DEAL WITH THIS!!!

There's alot of pain here...Childhood friends and "I took the road less travelled by?" (Robert Frost Poem) and I'm sick at heart here..........

19. Your post made me remember
Edited on Sat Mar-11-06 02:02 PM by lyonn
a few years ago I went to a high school reunion, 40th ugh, and met my bestest friend there and then went to her home in Eureka for about a week for a visit and one day she turned on Limbaugh and said something like she kept her radio tuned to that station, course I teased her about it. She knew I was a dem. as I made remarks about the trinkets in the gift shops going up hwy. 1 in CA. about how I couldn't bare to buy redwood, love the trees bit. Even bought a sweatshirt with Audubon Society logo on it. I was nieve. She is a truly sweet person but Russ was a shock. Oh, and the bedroom I stayed in had a signed picture of Bush 1 on the wall. On politics we agreed to disagree in a polite way and pretty much stayed away from the issue. That was in Cinton's time. I was in my comfort zone.

Edit: Her husband worked for the lumber co., nuff said. Oh, and I wore that damn sweat shirt to her husband office. Gawd was I dumb!

13. You're Not Serious, Right?
The DLC is one of the most vilified groups on DU. Lockstep? I don't even think it's fair to say that DU is evenly split.

15. I know...I lost my senses...
Drinking too much green tea and connecting with past friends who aren't friends anymore. Threw me over the edge.

I should ask mods to delete. I was trying to say something in my post...but it came across as an attack. I need a weekend break.

shame on me

16. Didn't Mean to Make You Blush
There are a lot of so-called moderate Democrats here (and on some issues I line up on that side too). It's true that sStrong progressive opinions are often criticized (although that's pretty much true of almost any strong opinion other than hating Bush or supporting the war).

The DLC, though, has a special place of opprobrium here. Not so much for their platform (which Clinton, Gore and Dean signed on to), but for abandoning their base and the best interests of the party by short-term accomodation. No one wants to be called DLC.
