Kerry's 2002 election results
I'm posting this as a reference, since it came up in a few of the threads I followed yesterday. It's the results of Kerry's last election to the Senate. Draw whatever conclusions you want.

Not counting blank ballots, the results are

John Kerry (D) 80%
Michael Cloud (L) 18%
Randall Forsberg (D,W) 1%

Counting blank ballots, the results are

John Kerry (D) 72%
Michael Cloud (L) 17%
Randall Forsberg (D,W) 1%
Blank 10%

(W means write-in)

4. That's what I'd guess
There are some Republicans in Massachusetts. Maybe they don't like Kerry and aren't comfortable voting libertarian.

(I sometimes leave parts of my ballots blank if I can't stand anyone running. More often, I'll write someone in.)

5. When a candidate is running unopposed
many people blank the ballot. He beat the hell out of Weld when Weld ran against him. Weld was favored to win but Kerry trounced him.

6. Squeaker
Kerry would've lost his seat if he had not saved his hide by voting for the IWR ;-)
