I'm watching CNN this morning and they are doing a piece on Operation Swarmer. The video clip begins showing a group of soldiers both US and Iraqi. It shows an Iraqi soldier handing a pair of binoculars to a US officer and pointing where he wants the US soldier to look. The narrator is saying something to the effect..."here we see the cooperation between the Iraqi Army and the US Army as an Iraqi soldier points out a lone vehicle in the distance (video cuts away to this lone vehicle)." The narrator again states that this is the kind of cooperation between the two armies which could mean successful transition...etc. etc.
I suppose what struck me as funny was that this was tauted as an example of the Iraqis "helping" the US fight the war on terror...HEY, ITS A FRICKIN' LONE VEHICLE OUT IN NOWHERE...This is the assistance that they are offering...that they are trained for, to point out a vehicle in the desert? Thank Allah that the Iraqi Army is there. With all of our technical ability to sniff out the enemy...what a stark contrast.
