Question about Post-Jeb Florida
Edited on Sat Mar-18-06 04:29 PM by MissWaverly
What does everyone think about POST-JEB Florida, give us the scoop, it looks like the
Republican Party is not having much luck managing Katherine Harris campaign for Senate,
what is your prediction about the state itself.

Here's some info on Rod Smith, I dug up on the internet

Favorable endorsement posted in Florida news blogspot

Seems to me he'd be the perfect choice for governor. Not because he has the best chance of winning a general election, even though he does. Not because he's a great speaker or because he's a great guy, even though he's both. He'd be an amazing Governor. That's what I get out of the article and what I've seen from him.

Campaign speech for Governor by Rod Smith

"I'm a Baptist and I'm a Democrat. I'm sure I'm an imperfect example of both. But I'm not switching from neither," Smith quipped to 100 Democrats gathered in former Attorney General Bob Butterworth's living room in Hollywood. "This race is going to be about who can win the whole state of Florida," he said, urging the crowd of mostly South Florida liberals to consider the importance of winning more rural Florida votes. "Throughout my life I have been able to convince the working families that the fight of the Democratic Party is the fight for their families. If we do that, we'll win again."

Bio stuff on Rod Smith

1992, and again in 1996, Smith was elected State Attorney for the Eighth Judicial Circuit, in the Gainesville area, where he created the circuit's first special prosecutions unit to crack down on crimes against women and children. In 1994, Smith gained widespread attention for his successful prosecution of Gainesville serial killer Danny Rolling on charges of first-degree murder for the slayings of five college students.
In 2000 and again in 2002, Smith was elected to represent Florida's 14th Senate District covering nine North Florida counties. In the Florida Senate, Smith successfully led efforts to strengthen programs to help abused children, fight discrimination in housing, protect the privacy of crime victims, improve the state's crime prevention initiatives, protect a woman's right to choose, and reinforce homeland security. A death penalty supporter, Smith successfully sponsored legislation to ban the execution of mentally retarded persons. While in the Senate he has served on the following committees:

1. I met and liked Rod Smith
A good speaker, seems energetic, unlike lazy boy Jeb who only appears in dire emergencies.

6. interesting you should say that Jebb remains aloof
the members of congress were saying the same about GWB, he never meets to discuss things,
there is no rapport.
