Why is Homeland Security over in Cambodia tracking down Pedophiles.
I do not want to start a flame war but, I just brought the latest Mother Jones and started reading the article "In a Brothel Atop Street 63" and this just jumped out at me.

http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/2006/03/brothel_cambodia.html
I meet the Homeland Security officer Mark is working with. He comes over to Lisa’s office for a chat, and I ask him why the Department of Homeland Security is in Southeast Asia tracking down pedophiles.

He says, “Because they are terrorists.”

“Terrorists?” I ask, somewhat dumbfounded.

“Domestic terrorists,” he says with some hesitation.

“Domestic terrorists? I’ve never heard the term.” And that is the end of the interview. He leaves in a huff.

Is this off the subject?

*************************

While this is serious, the question I have is WHY Homeland Security... Are all our Ports secured. Are all our airports and airplanes secured. Is our water supply and food supply secured....

I wonder how much money in the Homeland Security budget is going for things like this and Not our Ports

2. It is B.S.
I am certainly not condoning child pornography or any sort of exploitation of minors, but DHS needs to get back on message. The message is clean up your own house so we have a trustworthy response to disasters. Work out plans, including government-private sector partnerships so our ports are secure. Put simply, DHS needs to stop the junkets. It is pretty clear that they are just hankering after some topic that will whet the whistles of the fundie praise machine.

6. A government that was geared towards efficiency and getting
the job done should have taken whatever information they discovered about child pornography and forwarded it to the law enforcement personnel whose job this really is. At least that's the way you would think it would work.

9. One would think that
that would be the efficient and effective way to do things--but not when there are junkets to be had! Not when there are photo ops! Not when we need to bolster little Julie Myers's appointment.

3. And could DHS's presence in Cambodia have anything
to do with the deplorable way they responded to Katrina? Ya think they might be spread too thin?
Good point; what ARE they doing over there? Does DHS have a secret function Americans haven't
been told about? Pedophiles overseas? Are we becoming the world's police?

5. it's a front, a cover
but they can't really use it, cuz it's so private and hid away......still child porn/pedolphilia allows the cops to examine your computer on the premise you're somehow involved, but what they really want (many pigs are very child porn loving etc) is to make you paranoid politically.....that's why even as a passive 'rebel' a progressive person must email email email , fax fax etc and write letts/ph. calls so that we are numberless like drops in the goddam seas.....i'm 55 years old and have never even SEEN any so called child porn, never even stumbled over it, and i doubt there's that much of it....the cops have to troll for it, and join clubs etc, giving cc numbers and soon...kiddie porn is horrific so much so it literally an invention of modern world (high winds in jamaica, treasure island, even huck finn could never be written today, as they were children in close contact with strange adults etc)
if 'rum and sodomy' were the fuel of the english navy, then that shows us how utterly hypocritical those uptight christian missionary assholes were.....the 'mutiny on the bounty' was reportedly a love relationship gone bad....we the people should try not to act shocked by the crimes the lying bastards sccuse people of (invariably, the righteous thugs themselves indulge in the worst moral crimes men have ever imagined)

makes a hard man humble"...well i just had to bring in a showtune...well i feel much safer that the homeland security forces are enjoying a wonderful time in south east asia chasing down pedophiles.it`s a tough assignment looking the other way when the rich americans and other assorted trash from around the world walk by with a young thing and there`s nothing you can do about it. you know the fix is in before you step foot off the plane but you go anyway cause it`s a job. but the weather isn`t to bad

16. Perverts:- The new "Jew/Gypsy/Defective"
I've wondered sometimes of late whether paedophiles might be used as the thin edge of the wedge. After all EVERYBODY hates perverts with a passion. No one will cry any tears over them being herded into cattle cars and shipped off to detention centres. Nor would there be much in the way of wailing and wringing of hands when the gangbangers, druggies and pushers follow. The homeless; The perenially unemployed. There are only so many in the way of undesireables before they get to you.

The current administration's domestic electronic surveilance program strikes me as being utterly worthless for catching terrorists who practice even a modicum of opperational security. Don't these folk come from places where the "Thought Police" have an ear at every door listening for the patering of little nosters? Were/are they utterly unaware of the roumours of "TEMPEST" "Echelon", "Carnivore" et al that have been floating around for a generation or so?

On the other hand, the program is tailor made for catching criminals who are virtually dependent on electronic communications to ply their trade.

Terrorism may be the "justification" behind the implementation of the program, but I fear that tracking down and catching perverts will be the means by which the administration gets it accepted. Serendipitous "discoveries" will be made in the course of their investigations. Not just one or two, or even the hundreds swept up in recent investigations. There will be thousands if not tens of thousands of perverts dumped en mass on a public primed to scream for the blood of these "Evil Predators" or for the blood of anyone who even gives the appearance of wanting to protect them.

Even if the courts do uphold the fouth ammendment and walk each and every pervert discovered this way, the victory for the rule of law will be a shortlived and phyric one as an outraged public demands justice.

If 9/11 was a wetdream to the PNAC, the sort of public outrage this subject can provoke must be the ultimate once in a lifetime Tantric orgasm.
