Miami's Cubans Torn Over Baseball Success
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

MIAMI (AP) -- Cuban immigrant Luis Gomez was quick to pick his favorite in the World Baseball Classic championship game between Japan and Cuba.

''We're Cubans. We root for Cuba,'' the 83-year-old said as he picked up his usual lunch of chicken and rice at Los Pinarenos cafe in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood.

1. These people live in an 1962 world
The Cold War is over. It is O-V-E-R. They live here now. I wish these people would please stop holding national policy hostage just because of their obsession with this insignificant Cuban dictatorship that really doesn't affect the United States at all. Castro will die someday anyway.

2. When Castro dies do you think any of theses people will actually go home?
Nope. They'll stay here and agitate our fed goverment to give Cuba billions in dollars of economic aid. Instead of rebuilding their own country thru the magic of the free market - they'll ask Uncle Sam to do it for them.

3. Of Course The Irony Of It Is...
Of course the irony of it all is when the brothers Castro pass from the scene, the embargo ends, and normal trade relations start again, the right-wing, Republican-voting Cuban exiles are going to find their dear Republican friends and allies kicking sand in their faces by zeroing out any federally-funded assistance for Cuban reconstruction.
