The thirsty fine line between truth and fiction...
People crave to know the truth. But if someone says the sky is blue then someone else says "no, it is more gray than blue". The truth is relative they tell us. We cannot know the truth because it depends on whether or not you are a Republican or a Democrat. You may say the president broke the FISA laws by spying on American citizens. They may say the president has the authority under the Constitution or he was given authority by the Congress in the authorization for war? We cannot find the truth anywhere. It does not exist. It is all relative to your political persuasion. For example, you may think the economy sucks. They say it is doing better right now than in the 1970's, 80's, and 90's? Where is the truth? Does it exist?

military court for his torment/torture of prisoners at Abu Graib. The soldier who tormented with a dog.

MSNBC phrased the wording by saying 'his' dog (as if it was his personal dog and he brought it with him to Iraq) making him out to be independently guilty, not by orders. I don't remember the exact phrasing, but NPR did not 'shade' it in any way as stupidly as MSNBC. They used the words 'dog handler'.

I thought the MSNBC version was disgustingly twisted to protect the DOD.

I'm no longer a fan of news on NPR - I used to think they were very neutral, but that changed in the last 1 1/2 years. But today was like the old days - straight, not twisted.

MSNBC makes me ill. They think we are stupid. They are deceitful. This was a small example .

He made the point that law isn't really what's printed in the statute book, even when the black letter of the law seems to be very clear. The law is ultimately political power - it means what those who are willing to weild power say it means. Unfortunately, the Nazis took him literally, and he became their chief judge.

Perhaps, it can also be applied to the so-called laws of economics.

The Germans went down this road, and perhaps understood where we're going better than we do.
