This the e-mail my wife got from her uncle……. and her response
Subject: Secret Service Observations

PRESIDENTIAL OBSERVATIONS BY THE SECRET SERVICE
Observations by Dave
Kulow
We had a neighbor when I lived in DC who was
part of the secret
service presidential detail for many years. His
stories of Kennedy
and Johnson were the same as those I heard from the
guys who flew the
presidents' plane
Yes, Kennedy did have Marilyn Monroe flown in
for secret
"dates," and LBJ was a typical Texas "good OLE boy"
womanizer. Nixon,
Bush 41, and Carter never cheated on their wives.
Clinton cheated,
but couldn't match Kennedy or LBJ in style or
variety.

The information below is accurate: The elder
Bush and current
president Bush make it a point to thank and take
care of the air
crews who fly them around. When the president
flies, there are
several planes that also go one carries the armored
limo, another the
security detail, plus usually a press aircraft.
Both Bush's made it a
point to stay home on holidays, so the Air Force
and security people
could have a day with their families.

WHAT WAS:
Hillary Clinton was arrogant and orally
abusive to her security
detail. She prohibited her daughter, Chelsea, from
exchanging
pleasantries with them. Sometimes Chelsea, miffed
at her mot her's
obvious conceit and mean spiritedness ignored her
demands and
exchanged pleasantries regardless, but never in her
mother's
presence.
Chelsea really was a nice, kindhearted, and
lovely young lady.
The consensus opinion was that Chelsea loved her
Mom but did not like
her. Hillary Clinton was continuously rude and
abrasive to those who
were charged to protect her life. Her security
detail dutifully did
their job, as professionals should, but they all
loathed her and
wanted to be on a different detail. Hillary Clinton
was despised by
the Secret Service as a whole.
Former President Bill Clinton was much more
amiable than his
wife. Often the Se cret Service would cringe at the
verbal attacks
Hillary would use against her husband. They were
embarrassed for his
sake by the manner and frequency in which she
verbally insulted him,
sometimes in the presence of the Secret Service,
and sometimes behind
closed doors. Even behind closed doors Hillary
Clinton would scream
and holler so loudly that everyone could hear what
she was saying.
Many felt sorry for President Clinton and
most wondered why he
tolerated it instead of just divorcing his "attack
dog" wife. It was
crystal clear that the Clinton's neither liked nor
respected each
other and this was true long before the Monica
Lewinsky scandal.
Theirs was genuinely a "marriage of convenience."
Chelsea was much closer to her father than
her mother, even
after the Lewinsky scandal, which hurt her gravely.
Bill Clinton did
in fact have charisma, and occasionally would smile
at or shake hands
with his security detail. Still, he always
displayed an obvious air
of superiority towards them. His security detail
uniformly believed
him to be disingenuous, false, and that he did
nothing without a
motive that in some way would enhance his image and
political career.
He was polite, but not kind. They did not
particularly like him and
nobody trusted him.
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN:
Al Gore was the male version of Hillary
Clinton. They were m ore
friendly toward each other than either of them were
towards former
President Clinton. They were not intimate, so please
don't read that
in. They were very close in a political way. Tipper
Gore was
generally nice and pleasant. She initially liked
Hillary but soon
after the election she had her "pegged" and no
longer liked her or
associated with her except for events that were
politically
obligatory.
Al Gore was far more left wing than Bill
Clinton. Al Gore
resented Bill Clinton and thought he was too
"centrist." He despised
all Republicans. His hatred was bitter and this was
long before he
announced for the Presidency. This hatred was
something th at he and
Hillary had in common. They often said as much,
even in the presence
of their security detail.
Neither of them trusted Bill Clinton and, the
Secret Service
opined, neither of them even liked Bill Clinton.
Bill Clinton did
have some good qualities, whereas Al Gore and
Hillary had none, in
the view of their security details.
Al Gore, like Hillary, was very rude and
arrogant toward his
security detail. He was extremely unappreciative
and would not
hesitate to scold them in the presence of their
peers for minor
details over which they had no control. Al Gore
also looked down on
them, as they finally observed and learned with
certainty on one
occasion. Al got angry at his offspring and pointed
at his security
detail and said, "Do you want to grow up and be
like them?"
Word of this insult by the former
Vice-president quickly spread
and he became as disliked by the Secret Service as
Hillary. Most of
them prayed Al Gore would not be elected President,
and they really
did have private celebrations in a few of their
homes after
President Bush won. This was not necessarily to
celebrate President
Bush's election, but to celebrate Al Gore's defeat.
WHAT IS:
Everyone in the Secret Service wants to be on
First Lady Laura
Bush's detail. Without exception, they concede that
she is perhaps
the nicest and mos t kind person they have ever had
the privilege of
serving. Where Hillary patently refused to allow
her picture to be
taken with her security detail, Laura Bush doesn't
even have to be
asked, she offers. She doesn't just shake their
hand and say, "Thank
you." Very often, she will give members of her
detail a kindhearted
hug to express her appreciation.
There is nothing false about her. This is her
genuine nature.
Her security detail considers her to be a "breath
of fresh air." They
joke that comparing Laura Bush with Hillary Clinton
is like comparing
"Mother Teresa" with the "Wicked Witch of the
North."

Likewise, the Secret Service considers
Presid ent Bush to be a
gem of a man to work for. He always treats them
with genuine respect
and he always trusts and listens to their expert
advice. They really
like the Crawford, Texas detail. Every time the
president goes to
Crawford he has a Bar- B-Q for his security detail
and he helps
serve their meals. He sits with them, eats with
them, and talks with
them. He knows each of them by their first name,
and calls them by
their first name as a show of affection. He always
asks about their
family, the names of which he always remembers.

They believe that he is deeply and genuinely
appreciative of
their service. They could not like, love, or
respect anyone more than President Bush. Most of them did not know they
would feel this way,
until they had an opportunity to work for him and
learn that his
manner was genuine and consistent. It has never
changed since he
began his Presidency. He always treats them with
the utmost respect,
kindness, and compassion.

Please pass this on. It is important for
Americans to have a
true inside understanding of their President

-----------------------------------------
My wife’s response to he uncle…

You know what? I have felt from the very beginning of his campaign that Bush had another agenda. I still feel that way. I don’t trust him. But I don’t trust anyone in office anymore at all!!! Just like the priests you told me about yesterday, what an awful disgrace! Think about all the children that have suffered in the hands of these disgusting men!!! God help them for their sins against all those children. Just like the priests none of the politicians are up front with us. They all have something to hide. That includes the current president and his wife no matter how nice they are. I am not a hard core Democrat I am an Independent. I hate that people are always causing descention between the parties. Pointing out the good, bad and the ugly to get everyone riled up and angry at each other. What is the use of that? Why can’t we just join together and come up with a plan that works for the country and the best interest of its citizens? That is what angers me. It’s all about power and bad politics hidden under the guise of seemingly good. They tell us what they think we want to hear to get the most votes and power for their own agenda. Rumsfeld is a disgrace to the American people for the monstrosities he has allowed in the prison camps. There should be investigations to get to the truth about this behavior. There should be investigations to seek out the truth in any area of our Government’s behavior and actions that are questionable. No president should be allowed to pull rank and power and hide information or refuse to reveal what the American People have a right to know. Democrat, Republican or Independent – the people of this country have the right to know what is being done in the name of OUR FREEDOM!!! I think if we all new the real truth there would be a revolution like no one has ever seen. Is there really any such thing as honor and decency in our Government, in any of the parties? I think not!!! I am disgusted with all of them. I think that God himself is disgusted and perhaps some day soon he will prove just that. Sorry to vent on you, but the message you sent me is exactly what I am talking about. I don’t care for Hillary at all myself. But, to go on and on about all the evil of the democrats and compare their evil with the good of another is wrong. There is good and there is bad in all of us! As for me, I am disgusted with the whole thing. We never really know what we are getting for our votes. Never! That is the shame of it all! The political system then becomes a belief system filled with politicians that serve themselves and will not allow that system to be questioned. That’s where it becomes frightening to me. What kind of government do we end up with when that happens? So, bottom line…I am not a fan of messages like the one you sent me. Sorry my favorite Unc. I love you dearly but not the message I received. I think you are much better than that!!! But thank you for thinking of me.

1. I would go with something more along these lines
"COmplete, total horseshit." Unless your wife has bought into the "the parties are the same" shit. If she is willing to concede that a lying, drunken coward is more gracious than an erudite scholar like Clinton, then shame on her. We have all seen how "gracious" * is - whenever someone disagrees with him, that person is ridiculed, fired, or worse. This letter is COMPLETE bullshit.

21. Well...that would convince a lot of people of your point of view.
Make them defensive and even more protective of their beliefs, let them really dig themselves in so they keep thinking how right they are. He is family, for goodness sake. He is believing easily debunked lies...propaganda. He may be an ignorant dupe, but he is still her uncle, and otherwise she seems to be fond of him. I have people like that in my own family. :eyes:

My sister called a week or so ago, she was very quiet and subdued. She is usually a bubbly extrovert. She was, finally, seeing some disconnect in what she was believing and what she saw on the news. I told her to start watching "Lou Dobbs Tonight". Her hubby is an accountant, they are very conservative in a reflexive sort of way. But they know about Lou Dobbs. So...she sounded relieved I didn't suggest someone way out of her comfort level like ....Keith Olbermann. Maybe next time.

Yelling at people is a lot like yelling at kids. They dig their heels in and get stubborn.

2. This is like politics as a soap opera.....
We're supposed to like Bush (and dislike Clinton) based on what amounts to gossip? Does your Uncle know there's this war thing happening?

Well, as long as we're gossiping, I heard that the reason the Bush Twins so often make the cover of tabloids is that their Secret Service people dislike them so much they don't even try to protect the Twins from their own poor judgment.

They've got the letter up, but no research on it posted yet. This thing smells fake as hell to me though.

5. It was debunked previously, just rewritten. LOL
Do a word search on the internet or at Snopes or Break that Chain. I went through this with an ex-friend a year or so ago. Search for terms with quotes.

15. secret service men/women
keep their personal opinions to themselves -- so I find it highly improbable that this "letter" is based on secret service sources

meanwhile - I know quite a few people that are very nice, amiable and polite -- but they are also incompetent.

being nice, amiable and polite has nothing to do with an ability to do a job. Moreover, being nice, amiable and polite is more often a tool used to diffuse any criticism as in "yeah, he's a screw-up, but gee he's a real nice guy so I can't really get angry with him"

22. yes it does. If some ex-secret service guy wants to tell people
about his experiences on the job, let him write a book and publish it with HIS NAME ON IT and then maybe a person might take it seriously (even though publishing a book about it in NO WAY means it is true either, but at least put it there in public - unless you are afraid someone is going to set the record straight.)

I can tell you that SS don't like to talk about the people they protect. It is unlikely that this real. Also, there would be different people on these details - they wouldn't all be talking like this.

If this was a "fair and balanced" report on how our recent leaders behaved, then wouldn't it rightly include Dead Eye Dick? I can only imagine the kind of stories you might hear if Cheney's SS detail talked.

that SS (don't you just LOVE those initials these days???) who gossiped like that would soon be out of jobs.

Presidential Observations by the Secret Service (3/6/06)

Observations by David Hedges

We had a neighbor when I lived in DC who had a cousin twice removed whose half-stepbrother on his Mom’s side was good buddies with two generations of Secret Service agents assigned to the presidential detail, as well as with every guy who ever flew the presidents’ plane, from Kennedy and Johnson on, so this is the genuine article or my name isn’t Dave Kulow.

...

{Update (3/11/06) – According to www.snopes.com, the article now attributed to "Dave Kulow" made the email rounds prior to the 2004 presidential election. It's been revived, with strange and wonderful modifications, in time to scare core Republicans into voting in the 2006 elections. My favorite deletion was made after it resurfaced in January, 2006: “Al Gore was not a good and kind person. That he could have been our President may suggest that God was ‘answering prayers’ and looking out for the country with Al Gore's defeat." Talk about taking God's name in vain!}

And tell him that the Clintons are met with throngs of devoted, grateful admirers throughout the world. While the bushkid is met with universal derision and has created the most hated regime since Hitler.

So either literally billions of people are correct, or he and his pen pals are.

18. BS
A buddy of mine from State Department told me Bush 41 took his longtime girlfriend on State trips with him (and she looked somewhat like Babs, apparently that's Bush's "type.") I also know a former Gore staff member (who was very junior) who said Gore was a really nice guy to his staff, very down to earth.

Of course you're getting this second hand from me, so it's not proof, but still, this email set off every BS detector I have...

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/s/secretservice.htm

It boggles the mind how often people hit SEND before they even bother to learn what they've just gotten in their in box. No wonder the Nigerian scam has so many victims! People believe what they want to believe.

And as for Bush's character, I find it curious that's there such haste to canonize Bush when there is such ample evidence of his vindictiveness, bad temper, lack of intellectual curiosity, and need to control (and even put down) other people. He's dross, not gold, no matter what a forwarded e-mail or, God forbid, Glenn Kessler might say. :eyes:

24. Even IF this were true
When I was young working on the job I still have I knew a conductor. Now he hated me because of a confrontation we had when we first met but everyone else I knew or met on the job really liked this guy. He was nice, he was respectful even of the young guys. He treated everyone at work very well. I never liked him but I respected him. A few years after he retired I happened to run into his son and told him how well his father was liked and respected. His answer was yeah he hears that all the time, but at home his father was a bastard who tyranically berated and abused his wife and children. The man was very careful to craft and shape his more public persona when in fact he was a small and cruel man. EVEN IF TRUE, this just doesnt mean anything, and I doubt very seriously its true.
