I do not know about you but I am way more worried about
the low primary polling numbers in the Cegalis-Duckworth race.

We should have more then just the party wactivists voting in primaries. Right?

1. No.....
The top of the ticket was a yawner...

People rarely turn out in droves just for a congressional primary....

5. Perhaps people in their despair no longer trust the political system
and are joining the rising numbers of those that just don't bother with voting in a system they see as totally unresponsive to their needs.

6. More Likely, My Friend, In This Instance
Most Democrats in the district saw either candidate as quite acceptable, and having no particular preference, saw no need to express one.

7. We could be witnessing fatigue on the part of the voters
This was posted in LBN by Pirate Smile:

Republican fatigue could hurt the party's chances in November

GOLDEN, Colo. - Brian Wareing has been a Republican all his life. But ask him how his party has done running the federal government and his complaints pile up: Immigration. Spending. Trade. He's had enough.

He won't vote for a Democrat in November's congressional elections. But he might vote for a third-party candidate - or he might not vote at all. "At this point, I couldn't vote for the Republican," the house painter from this Denver suburb said, with regret.

Across the country this spring, many Republicans alternate between anger and ambivalence five years after their party seized power over the federal government and seven months before a pivotal election for control of Congress.

If enough disgruntled Republicans sit out the midterm elections - when voter turnout typically is low and victory goes to the party whose base is most passionate - Republican incumbents could lose in close contests such as the one in Golden.

Opposition to Republican policies or disillusionment with Bush is not being translated into votes for Democrats. Mind you, there are more Republicans that Democrats in IL-06. The Democratic challenger will have to take the votes of people that normally voted Republican in order to win.

8. Either Is Good, My Friend
The difference in the totals is what counts, and whether this is achieved by the other side sitting on its hands or by our's moving their feet does not matter....

9. My concern is different--I see this as indicative of the party's inability
to get people involved and keep them involved.

We can't expect every registered Dem to get out and vote in the primary, much less be active enough to care to do so. But we need to find a way to involve and inform people early on.

This is something the spend and spend Republicans do all too well.
