So, you want a snake oil salesman?
Fright set in yesterday after watching Bush for about fifteen minutes. Protecting America, Day Three, dateline West Virginia. The only thing that kept my chin from the floor was the remote which mercifully had an OFF button. Usually, after a Bush speech, I blurt out a few salty words then send a some emails or sign a couple of petitions. Yesterday was different. It was like watching an unstable clown arrive to put out my neighbor`s house fire.

All I could think about was some fake hero movie, where the star dives into the water and seconds later surfaces with a barracuda in his teeth. Not a scratch on him, just a dead barracuda. Look Ma, no blood. Real crowd pleaser.

When a well-practiced swagger and a phony Texan drawl helps morph war talk into a comedy routine, it`s time to worry. When a crowd responds with a standing ovation because Bush tells them a few new Iraqi schools are a more genuine picture of war than thousands of dead and maimed people, it`s time to cry.

I shudder to think what Protecting America, Speech #4 will bring. Probably more rapturous attention gone haywire.

1. The overzealous true believers who immediately leapt to their feet
for a standing ovation over the audience plant who criticized the media for not showing the "good news" were frightening. They looked like a bunch of amateur actors directed to make sure they show their strong support for Bush for the benefit of the cameras.

2. I see he is back to his base voters.
We got what they voted for and it is a mess for the rest of us and the world. He is going to leave another mess for some one else to clean up. This is what Bush has always done. He is a man that is sure he knows what is right for us so there it is. He is not the first and I am sure he will not be the last that does this. After all I lived through Nixon and RR. Both loved their wars and spent like a drunk sailor and we the people had to clean it up. It seems to be the closed mind of never seeing any thing but one wants to see. Interesting to go through history and see this type of man who gets power from birth rights of voters and they all seem to be some what a like. I seem to think of Bush as sort of the last Czar type. People liked him also but he just never saw a thing but what he wanted to see. They seem so unsure of them selfs that they stay in one frame of mind.
