(RW news watch) Hillary says immigration bill would make Jesus illegal
This was just mentioned in the press conference. I googled it. The RW is all over this.

Looks like Hillary is trying to take Jesus back.

GOP WOULD HAVE BOOTED JESUS: HILL

March 23, 2006 -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton ratcheted up her talk about religion yesterday - saying a GOP-sponsored bill making it a felony to be in the United States illegally would have "criminalized" Jesus.

The republican version of Jesus isn't anything I can find in the words attributed to him.

6. GO HILL! Though Dems hate her she's the only one who will get down
and roll-with the fuckers. She's got some big-ass-brass-ones. I for one salute her for that!

8. Oh, please. She isn't the first Dem to refer to religion while
making a point, why Senator Kerry and former Presidents' Carter and Clinton have deferred to their beliefs when making a point about an issue. Actually, I almost cringed when I heard her say this. The statement just didn't seem to fit IMO.

13. Hey, that's a generalization!
A lot of us love her. Stating that over and over again does not make it so.

12. It would have made sense
if she could refer to an action that would have made Jesus a criminal. I guess with the good smaritan she is assuming that the stranger he helped was an illegal alien - which I think goes beyond the text.

I get a bad feeling when the Republicans distort religious texts. Here if she pointed to specific elements of the bill and said this went against her vaules as a Christian (mentioning other religions too would get extra points.).

14. I'd Like ALL To Keep Religion Out Of Government
Frankly I wish that all these politicians would shut up about religion. It has no place in government and the less said the better.

16. LOL, you gotta love her saying that!
She's giving um custody of that little legislation to gain Hispanic voters...
but can the Republican savior resurrect the party that pulls his strings?
only time will tell.
