U.S. Soldier Blogs: "I뭢 Fed Nothing But Propaganda"

It's just one soldier's opinion, and it may not be the most popular one, but all Americans should read the blog, "Fun With Hand Grenades," by an anonymous blogger describing himself as a 23-year-old bartender turned solider in Iraq.

It was during a convesation with his parents that he first learned that some people believe Iraq is on the verge of civil war.

In a March 20 post, "Propaganda," the blogger writes:

Me: 밅ome again

Parents: 밢h, I was saying with gas prices over two bucks a gallon, are you sure you want to get a truck?�

Me: 밡o, the civil war part.�

That was the first I뭗 heard about the mosque getting blown up and this was two or three days after it happened. I뭢 IN Iraq and have no idea what뭩 going on. A few months back I came to the conclusion that I뭢 fed nothing but propaganda and now it seems like my theory is dead on.

Later, writing about the military newspaper Stars & Stripes, the blogger writes:

(N)inety percent of the pages that are focused on the war talk about how 밽reat� the Iraqi Army/Police are becoming, how we built some school or water plant and how Haji is so grateful for it, or how such and such a unit found the mother of all weapons caches in some garden in the middle of bum-fuck nowhere. ... I can tell you that this place isn뭪 Candy Land. Car bombs are going off killing civilians, people are blowing up mosques, the kidnapping and subsequently beheading of people, these fuckers don뭪 wear identifiable uniforms, and friends of friends are getting killed over here. I personally find it insulting that what little amount of news I뭢 given isn뭪 realistic. I feel like the main character in 밅lockwork Orange� with his eyelids held open while being brainwashed.

6. makes you wonder how many other soldiers

feel the same way, but have no one to tell but their fellow soldiers or families.

Wasn't there a study recently that found a high percentage of soldiers want the war to end this year? I think it was dismissed by the administration as being "liberal."

They control all the media they see and shut down their blogs if they question the Great Plan for Victory. It's total mind control time, and still 75% of them want the US the fuck out of there in a year. I guess it's more difficult to control their daily reality.

angry...I am curious how this anger will present itself...their buddies killed for a lie, maimed ...the VA gutted by this administration....if they lived in the Gulf...their homes gone....

10. These poor guys

After doing 3 or 4 tours, and an administration that doesn't even want to give them their benefits, and are pressuring doctors to NOT diagnose them with PTSD, so they don't have to pay for their treatment and can send them back to Iraq all doped up, are right back where the Vietnam vets were in the 70s, if not worse. These fuckers have managed to undo decades of progress on every concievable front.

I agree with this statement...the Repugs don't have the ability to look at possible outcomes of their actions or inactions......
