The whole Democrat/Democratic thing...

What's the officially, legally registered name of the Party? It's "Democratic", and if a Republican calls it the Democrat Party, just say, "Well, I don't know if you can't read, can't remember, or just don't understand grammar, but it's the Democratic, not Democrat, Party."

Especially when people who claim to be Democratic pundits do it. It gives them away as ringers.

We are the Democratic Party.

We are Democrats.

Bill Bennett and his Republican friends at Fox use the term "the Democrat Party" in order to marginalize America's great party of the People.

Plus, "Shibboleth" is a Bible Word, and thus, very "sexy" to recent apostates from the Church of the Divine Elephant.

In the 1970s, I remember hearing Libertarians discuss how "we should call them the Democrat Party" because the Democrats were, of course, against Liberty, what with their emphasis on civil rights and wimmin's lib and all that other Hippie Shit. The word "Democracy" could thus be appropriated (and possibly sold to their dictator friends at a profit).

These days, the righties only understand it as a vague way of expressing contempt. They don't realize that it makes them sound like dumbasses and blows their cover when they're posing as (pseudo-) critics.
