Remember back when the Repukes threatened the "nuclear

option" and people were saying the Democrats should just walk out of Congress? What difference did their staying actually make? For example, they get a few concessions on the Patriot Act and Bush just says "fuck you!" The Phase II investigation is still in limbo. Scalito was confirmed, etc., etc. What good are the Democrats doing by bothering to be there?

1. Our "leaders", as usual, got rolled by the Repugs.

The Repugs know how to fight to win. Our side thinks just showing up is a victory.

We are in big trouble heading into the 2006 elections. I see the same kind of false belief that the polls are showing us winning that I saw in 2004. We only look good now because of the Repugs' continued failings. But that won't be enough to let us win congress. We need to fight them tooth and nail and offer a real alternative. I don't see that from our current crop of "leaders".

3. With All The Fraud, We Could LOSE Seats

All the Dems in congress know it. You don't see any excitement about the fall elections there.
The Democrats in Congress are more afraid of the Fall elections than the Republicans are.
It's all about keeping your head down and hope you don't get NSAmailed and/or Diebolded this time.
