Impeachment anyone???

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x753620

OK So according to the above posts it is impeachment fever time.

Question: What would it take to force a city wide referendum on * in Seattle???

The city charter says that signatures of 10% of the voters for mayor can sponsor a referendum. Based on the information I have there were 95247 votes cast for mayor in the last election. That would mean we only have to get 9525 signatures to present an impeachment resolution...

http://clerk.ci.seattle.wa.us/~public/charter.htm

What should such a referendum say? Any examples of what other cities have passed?? Any one interested?????

4. You are correct. I didn't mean to imply that the desire to
impeach him shouldn't be widely publicized. If,however, the Dems could grab the House in November, it might be a new ball game. It would become a great time to own a shredding machine factory.

11. We are both in agreement about Bush. That's what counts the
most. In fact, all while the media keeps claiming that the Dems are "divided" and don't have a plan, the fact is, the Dems are VERY solid on their desire to retake control for the corrupt Bush administration. The plan is to start governing on a basis of respect for the law and the American people. Then to clean up the mess as fast as possible.

7. Impeach Bush AND Cheney.
Even if Cheney became president, he would be seriously weakened. He's basically president now anyway.

8. Nah. Cheney already has power of Bush. wouldn't be much
difference in the governing. The profit would be that there would be one down and one to go. Then we could concentrate on Hastert and most importantly, getting a good Dem elected in 2008.

It will take an outstanding Democratic administration twenty years to clean up the Republican mess. And some thing will never be able to be corrected, i.e. environment damage.

9. Perhaps a ballot petition for the next municipal election
You are having an election in November, right?

Otherwise, how would the Seattle city council be disposed to putting it on the ballot?

12. BINGO & WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!
I am not a lawyer, but I don't think the city council could ddo anything once the initiative was signed by the required amount of individuals.

13. In San Francisco one of the Supervisors on our city...
...Board of Supervisors put it up for vote.

Being the sensible city we are, badda-bing, vote passed.

{Begin_Fantasy} Wonder if we'd next like to consider bringing a "War Crimes" statement against BushCo, et. al.

Then, if they cross into San Francisco, we could...mayhaps...rendition them to the Hague.{End_Fantasy}
