'Compassionate' Conservatism and Immigration
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 06:52 PM by espera17
From Intellectual Conservative writer Jim Kouri:

The urge for a utopian state of existence and a desire to make all things equal by the American Left has given way to a desire simply to make all things equal sans utopia. In their passion for a neo-Marxist level for the masses, they’ve decided consciously or subconsciously that if they could not bring the World’s population up to the American level of prosperity and wealth, then they will bring US citizens down to the World’s level of poverty and misery. For this is a result of seeing free trade as a zero-sum entity, and self-alienation of the American Left from their own country, the USA.

And from Los Angeles protestor Eduardo Sotelo Piolin:

Protester Eduardo Sotelo Piolin, a disc jockey with a radio, said he opposed the tough measures. “I am one of the thousands of people who crossed the border in the trunk of a car because I wanted a better life,” he said. “Today I’m a documented worker. But we should respect the people who are not documented and we should not treat them like criminals.”

Ameal Khan, an Afghan immigrant:

"I absolutely love it here. I love the people, the culture, and the freedoms. America is more than a country, it is an idea with concepts like freedom."

These people come to this country for hope, as has every American living here today. Why do 'compassionate' conservatives continue to try and deny others the opportunities afforded to them by this great country?
