There is a hearing Tuesday on NSA & FISA
Besides being something that Congress should do -- investigate this illegal program and get an explanation from the President as to his Admin's action under FISA -- this might also be a precursor to the Censure hearing on Friday.

3. No,. it's Specter's call
Edited on Sun Mar-26-06 10:34 PM by TayTay
It is a chance to see what Specter is really going to do here. He is, allegedly, very angry over the way this Admin has been running things and their grab for absolute power. This hearing will show if that is all PR or if Specter really wants to challenge the PRez and his team on this.

Besides, many Sens have said that they want hearings on the illegality of the wiretapping operation by the NSA in violation of the FISA laws before they contemplate the censure resolution that Sen. Feingold has put forward.

Well, here are the hearings. Then the censure hearing comes up on Friday. I wonder if the hearing Tuesday will influence Democratic arguments for or agains the censure res.

2. I take it this will not be televised? Thanks for the heads-up.
I wonder if it would do any good to ask CSPAN nicely to cover it?

This link takes you to a listing of all scheduled Senate hearings and the link for audio, if the committee is being broadcast live.

C-Span will almost certainly record and play back the open part of the hearing. Check the C-Span3 listing that day.

5. Thanks, Tay Tay. I don't trust Specter anymore despite
his supposed anger at the spying. I think he's trying to shut the censure down. But we shall see; should prove to be an interesting week.
