Andrea Mitchell: "It was very clear that Bush was set on going to war..."
Olbermann goes over the newest released memo from The U.K on this segment. Keith blasts the Bush line of "no president wants to go to war, " after it reveals the war plans were already drawn up five days before Colin Powell went to the UN.

Andrea Mitchell actually brings up the Downing Street memo (she doesn't call it that) and says war was inevitable from the start while she hits up on the "painting of a spy plane" to trick Saddam into firing at it so they could then justify invading Iraq.

Mitchell: It was very clear that George Bush was set on going to war...

1. This week the media will be completely focussed on...
... the immigration issue, and with the afghan convert being released, that the memo will (once again) be drowned out.

Unless of course Democrats keep stompin' away at it keeping it on the FRONT burner!!

3) Hillary is unelectible!!!!!! (just ask any Fox newscaster)
4) Here's the "GOOD NEWS OF THE DAY" from Iraq
5) jENNIFER aNNISTON'S HAIR - HOW does SHE KEEP IT SO STRAIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL?

14. Mitchell downplayed the Downing Street Memos when they surfaced and
acted as if they held no significance. I felt then she was covering her own ass and the asses of her fellow mediawhores.

15. they were paying attention,
but they were reading from a different script back then. The script, perhaps, is changing now.

5. But, Gee, Andrea.......
our president said it was the choice of last resort, that he hadn't made up his mind yet, that no president wants war. Do you mean he was lying? And wouldn't that make the media complicit in the run up to war because if they knew and didn't report it, they did the American people a great disservice by beating that drums of war right along with bush? She's saying that the media knew all along as well, yet did nothing to question bush's decision to invade Iraq. In other words, you're an accessory to the crime. A willing accessory at that. Andrea has been one of bush's biggest cheerleaders, now she's trying to distance herself from him along with just about every Congressional Republican. Faithful to the core, aren't they? :eyes:

11. Oh, that just rips it!
Who does she think she's fooling here? What's this "we should point out.." stuff? How long has it been since the DSM has been common knowledge? Oh, and it's the "so=called" Downing Street memo, is it? Can't be too careful with your language, can you. Like there's something a bit funny about the memo.

Aaargh!

12. Every public figure likes to tell pleasing stories
Everyone likes to put himself or herself in the best light, to cast their actions as arising from only the purest of motives. No surprise that Bush would strenuously protest that he, like every other president, didn't want to go to war. After all, this debacle has turned out to be every bit as bad, and in some features even worse, than a lot of people were warning about in late 2002 and early 2003. Who wants to get in front of this blame train? Nobody, that's who.

The shocking thing to me is the total complicity of the major media in just going along with Bush's strenuous assertion. Have they completely forgotten such phrases as "fight them over there so we don't have to fight them over here" or "we don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud" or the Bush Doctrine so carefully articulated during Colin Powell's Prevaricating Powerpoint Presentation of Pre-emptive War? Are we looking at a mass case of early onset Alzheimer's?

Of course the Bush administration was set on the path to war, at least as early as August 2002, when the first public pronouncements of the "new product" was being rumored for a September roll out: War with Iraq. The major media know this, they participated in it, they shook their pom-poms and cheered their fool heads off for Shock and Awe. Then Bush says he didn't really mean it all, and the media just nod along like a bunch of bobblehead dolls.
