White supremacist sues to run as Democrat in Missouri primary
Edited on Wed Mar-29-06 06:19 PM by loyalsister
Miller said he wants to run as a Democrat because Republicans support the war in Iraq, which he said he opposes, and because he agrees with many Democratic planks such as universal health care and union bargaining rights.

"I think the country has swung too far to pro-Republican, free enterprise, big business, that sort of thing," he said in a telephone interview from his home near Aurora, about 30 miles southwest of Springfield.

Miller said his chances were slim of getting the 6,000 signatures he would need to register as an independent. He claimed people were afraid to support what he called "pro-white viewpoints."

"I believe white people are supreme at building civilizations and maintaining law and order and peace," Miller said. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/M/MO_7TH_CONGRESSIONAL_MILLER_MOOL-?SITE=MOCOD&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

Then there's this bill proposed by a Confederate reenactment group. They want to make sure that they have a statutory "right" to fly the confederate flag wherever they do their reenactments.

This bill establishes the Missouri State Park Board, created by
Executive Order 86-26, which is responsible for managing all
aspects of the Historical Marker Program. The board will consist
of eight members, two of whom must reside in a county in which a
state historic site of significant military history is located. http://www.house.mo.gov/bills061/bilsum/intro/sHB999I.htm

Moving is not a practical possibility for me, but it still crosses my mind these days.
Culturally, this state has floated south of Georgia with the Republican takeover.

1. This guy makes Zell Miller look like... like... like a Democrat?
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- A white supremacist who once was the subject of a nationwide manhunt has filed suit to be listed on the August 8 primary ballot as a Democrat after the party refused his candidacy to run against Republican Roy Blunt in Missouri's 7th Congressional District.

The federal lawsuit filed Tuesday accuses Secretary of State Robin Carnahan of keeping Frazier Glenn Miller off the primary ballot as part of an "unconstitutional policy to exclude people who espouse pro-White racial viewpoints."

The lawsuit asks the court to order Carnahan to place Miller's name on the Democratic ballot for the primary.

Democrats blasted Miller's effort to get on their ticket.

"We refuse to allow this white supremacist a platform to spew his racist and anti-Semitic views," state party spokesman Jack Cardetti said.

2. That, we don't need.
I like to think of the Democrats as a Big Tent party... but frankly, it's not big enough to encompass white supremacy, IMHO...

(So... he's for "universal health care" -- would that be for whites only?? )

:yoiks:

What a moron. I swear the GOP are paying scum like this to run as Dem in the primaries to
1) waste our candidates money fighting them and
2)make it look like DEMs are the bigots.

of course the repukes will still claim to be the "Family friendly" "Values & morals" party by pandering to homophobes, fetal rights groups and those who think women should be "submissives"

editted for typo...

4. Sounds like a Jacksonian Democrat
A racist, but a populist on economic issues--as long as you are white.

Miller said he wants to run as a Democrat because Republicans support the war in Iraq, which he said he opposes,

He doesn't give a shit about the Iraqi people or Muslims. He only opposes the war because the war is seen as benefitting Israel, which all white supremacists hate

and because he agrees with many Democratic planks such as universal health care and union bargaining rights.

if you are white

9. That's a reasonable natural suspicion, but.......

after he tried to file as a Democrat, he tried to file as a Republican, and when they rejected, he tried Libertarian.
I think it's possible that he may be sincerely seeking to get on a ticket and into the election because he's sick of the BS. It shakes me up to entertain the possibility of having common ground with someone with such dispicable world view.
But, If you take a look at politics in Missouri and how many of the Democrats line up for misogyny on choice bills, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that there could be some closeted racist Democrats in the General Assembly, as well. In fact, some Democrats have laid groundwork for making immigration one of their big election issues by sponsoring a number of bills.
I hope that he doesn't get on the ballot. He's got a world view that runs counter to what I think are basic Democratic principles, but I don't think we should automatically consider this a trick. I think we need to assume he's the real thing and take this as a cautionary incident. This is the kind of thing that should raise our radars, and diligence in candidate recruitment efforts.

10. That's exactly what most of the KKK is like....populists with a
strong racist streak....same for the neo-nazi's. They hate the corporatists, which of course they link with being jewish. It's certainly a strange bed. These parties have been around all along....they are definitely NOT modern day democrats nor republicans, but in terms of economic issues agree with the democratic plank over the republican.
