Fellow DU'ers I could use some cheering up....
There are some good and some not some good days. Yesterday, I was interviewed live on the radio by a former GOP AG who hugged me after I was done, so I think I did pretty well in her eyes. I had two very good Dem. Town Committee meetings following attending a Green Party candidate fund raiser. He's a progressive and busting his hump for his community. All in all not bad.

Today, I was bagged by two appointments and a staff member and this is one of those days where it feels like two steps forward and one step back...

The momentum for anti-war and impeach bush efforts has ground to a near halt and although our Be Patriotic Impeach Bush billboard will be up through April thanks to supporters' help, the level of tangible support to keep it going or push the RI general assembly on the bush impeachment resolutions seems lackluster.

Being a Marine vet, I push forward,,,, but some support would be nice; especially after the Bush press conference about us staying in Iraq until the next president decides otherwise. I expected total blog chaos and it's as if it was a minor news story.

57. WELL WELL WELL..if its not Carl come asking for help...2 months
on the DU.

How is it you ignored answering my questions in the past 2 of your threads?

How Long were you a Pub and how long has it been since coming to the Dem Party?

How is it, as a PhD...you keep mangling the English Language? Its almost high school level and as a graduate of HS, I should know...

The more you give...the more you gonna get....but so far...I don't see Carl giving us much...not in answers...and not a clue as what he gonna do once elected besides some Bushesque generic crap.

You are not FOOLING ME

He even dared to ask WHAT IS THE DEMS PLATFORM

For a guy running for The U.S. SENATE to ask such a question is quite revealing in my book...

And know that DU has your back! (as for "news" "coverage" of the issues we value -- remember too that there are so many outrages and atrocities to keep up with, that it seems like part of their strategy is that none can rise to the surface (of perception) when all are happening at once...

...but their house of cards will tumble soon. One "Card" already has!

12. The support is building. It's like the swell of waves before the big one
breaks through. Right now, we're in a bit of a trough, but below the surface much is being accomplished. But we will not forget the dead who died for these lies. Some of us are still carrying the fight for those who died on Sept. 11th and whose deaths have not been adequately explained. There is no statute of limitations on these crimes, and under the radar, America's awareness is growing. Something unforeseen will happen and the building dissatisfaction will break through. When that happens we are going to need good people in office. So please know that many out here support your efforts to restore our country.

13. for what it's worth
I live and work near Wilkes-Barre Pa, the anti-incumbent sentiment is running strong at all levels -- local, state and federal

I use to see 5-6 bush-cheney bumper stickers on cars while driving to work at 5:30am in the morning -- now it's down to maybe 1

US flags and other things associated with bush -- also dwindling

the big bush-supporter at work isn't happy with bush anymore, although he still supports bush, it's not with the same amount of rah-rahing

the grass roots are smoldering, little flames here and there -- not going to take too much more before it bursts into a full fledged BUSH-fire

22. Hang in there Carl.
Its just a bump in the road, granted a big bump, but a necessary one. Learn from those days, and look for positive things out of the negative and it will all fall into place.

Remember that poem, "Don't Quit." Please don't.

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill.
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit!

never answers my questions...and when he does..its so generic its pathetic

He looks, sounds like a DINO..come to bleed and spy on us...

I even asked him that...till today...no answer...

He was a Pub and only recently turned to our Party....on the DU for 7 weeks or so,,,and we know almost NOTHING about him.

My nose ditects something awfully smelly.

71. I gave Opi as much time as possible.
He is operating on a different level. And yes, I was a Regean era GOP voter, who has voted the candidate ever since. I disaffiliated because my values were more progressive than the majority of existing Dems and certainly in opposition and defiance of Bush&Co.

Opi is welcome to his opinion. I've asked where (s)he stands because the depth of my positions are not to liking. The reality is without the end of the Iraq War. most of this is nothing more than political posturing regardless of party. Thanks Capn.

69. Yeah, you're really good at "ditecting" stuff...
:P

You probably shouldn't complain about others' spelling in a post where you yourself can't spell a simple word like "detect". Just sayin'.

And I was just ribbing the other poster.

Good luck with your campaign!

70. My priority is not to impress but to profess.
We find weaknesses if we look for them. I'm looking for our best.

There have been many times in our countrys history when things looked bleak;
We will get through this.

80. It could be worse. We could live in one of the countries we exploit.
Edited on Fri Mar-31-06 07:09 PM by McCamy Taylor
Seriously. We bitch and moan, but we are citizens of the modern Roman Empire, wallowing in our filthy wealth that is derived from the blood, sweat and tears of citizens of all the third world countries which we exploit. The most trod upon US citizen has it pretty damn good, unless he is mentally ill, a racial minority, gay or one of a few other persecuted groups. But you can be a straight arrow citizen from any one of dozen countries in Africa and your life does not mean shit to most people in the US.

So, rejoice in the fact that we are healthy enough, educated enough, free enough, endowed with enough liberty to have the time to work for social justice. We could be spending 20 hours a day fighting off hunger.

82. Just the person I need to speak to
Because I am Australian, I am not completely knowledgeable about your political system. Do you have an official spokesperson for the Democrats?
For example, in Australia, we have an Opposition leader (Kim Beasley) and he is head of the Australian Labor Party, of which I am a member. Below him, he has shadow ministers who are spokespersons for policies which come under their portfolios.

In other words, at the moment, who is the main spokesperson for you party?
