Why we must become like them ?
Karl Rove and George W Bush believe that all is fair in love, war, and politics. Rules are for sissies. If you are knocked down, they are obligated to kick you in the ribs. That's the way the game is played.

Diplomacy, compromise, and debate are for losers. They will have no part of it. So when Democrats ask for bipartisanship, they are only falling for the Republican ploy.

Democrats have no choice but to fight fire with fire. If the Repubs wish to get low down and dirty, then we must be ready to fight on their terms. Scruples and honesty will get you nowhere.

1. Honesty is what we need.
But given the mendacity of the GOP, honesty and bipartisanship are two radically different things.

2. i agree, though i would describe what we need as "relentless honesty"
or as truman said, "i just give 'em the truth and they THINK it's hell"!

compromise and bipartisanship are the banana republicans' sucker ploy.

debate can only occur if there are two. if all they do is call names and the media refuses to call them on it, then we must fight that same battle.

3. Why? Their way has failed again and again because it isn't the
best of humanity or of governance. Why on earth would we ever emulate them..their inhumanity... let alone their incompetence (same thing often - since this is a presidency). Why would we change who we are? and toss out all of our strengths? Like honesty, realism, empathy, adulthood, responsibility, good governance, intellect, might, and being part of mankind.

5. Dems need to get tougher with the truth
Fight 'em tooth and nail, but keep it honest.

But I have little hope for a fight, much less one for the truth at this point. Half the time it doesn't appear many Dems are even aware of the truth. The rest of the time they're too busy practicing CYA.
