McKinney's lawyer said the capitol police chief is "fired"

What did that mean? Wolf Blitzer said in response that the chief will be gone at the end of this week. The lawyer said the chief had spoken some "rumors" on CNN this morning.
What's this all about? A civil servant who is leaving service in a few days makes this fuss?
....we learn that the chief resigned as of April 6th because he and his nephew were in violation of a law against nepotism in the Capitol Police Force -- unwitting, he says.
There has been controversy associated with the chief's tenure on the force, most specifically allegations that he sought to expand power to unusual lengths. Even Republicans have slapped him down over various measures.
3. Maybe he's going to work for De Lay as a pay off for
Cynthia McKinney.
Stranger things have happened.
Or maybe he is getting a job with Homeland Security or FEMA or Haliburton or Blackwell's Security Team or Consultant At Large for Rudy G. or...the beat goes on.
