Alberquerque Tribune Endorses Clark In New Mexico
Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 12:01 PM by Skinner
EDITORIAL: We endorse Clark for New Mexico's caucus
Among a distinguished field of worthy Democratic candidates, retired Gen. Wesley Clark stands out and offers hope and vision.

Amid the intense and sometimes bitter confrontations of the Democratic primary campaign, Clark has emerged as calm, confident and capable - a political outsider but someone who knows the terrain very well, isn't easily fooled and is up to the challenge of the nation's problems.

Whether the issue is personal integrity, intellect, political vision, leadership or basic respect for the value of an American soldier's life, Clark has earned the right to carry his party's banner into a full-bore showdown with President Bush.

The Tribune endorses Clark for the Democratic nomination for president and urges New Mexico Democrats to vote for him with confidence during their caucus on Feb. 3.

1. Clark is going to win Arizona
Not sure about NM, polls are pretty worthless. Kerry is going to lose 3 tomorrow.

3. Are you in Arizona?
What's the deal?

All the polls show him behind.

10. I just got back from AZ
was there trying to help out. To me, AZ looks good, but it's hard to tell when you are in a big state and there is so much going on--i.e., Clark isn't around all the time like he was in NH, etc.--and you are around only people who support Clark.

I have a feeling there is lots of respect for Clark and he will do well. I'm not sure how far behind the polls have him (I have sworn off polls), but I expect him to be very close tomorrow.

5. The General will do well in New Mexico
along with the other states...as one of his supporters' the polls don't make people vote for who says is in lead as Iowa as shown and alot of people will vote with great determination to pick the man who can win this fight.
And the General fits the glove that can punch out Bush and win all the way in November! :-)

Edited on Mon Feb-02-04 10:15 PM by gate of the sun
and I live in Santa Fe....people read the Albequerque Journal and it barely mentioned Clark in the Sunday Paper. I'm sorry to tell you that and Kucinich was on the front page with a native american women.

19. PAR-TAY!!!

I'm not over optimistic, but I'm just happy for once Clark is getting some recognition for what we've all known.

He's the only one who can beat the snot and the body wave perm off of GWB!

20. Clark is the complete package
"Clark is the complete package* - a man whose brilliant military career and service have provided a rich foundation for leadership."

It feels good that others get it, too. Good on the Alberquerque Tribune.

Cheers..!!

* (While Bush is just a total package.)

22. Clark may surprise in NM, even
though it's true that polls have shown Dean and Clark battling for a distant 2nd to Kerry, and the Tribune is the minor of the 2 dailies. I just returned from 2 hours of phone banking for Clark in Albuquerque, and it looks better for us than we expected. My call sheets were all voters whom the campaign had identified as "undecided" on the basis of previous calls. Of those that my group was able to reach, probably 30-40% gave commitments to Clark, the rest not yet decided, refused to say, or indicated another preference. Given that polls here show around 30% undecided, and that we seem to be picking up a large share of them, my fingers are crossed. Yes to Wes!
