I'm glad Cynthia McKinney apologized for her actions.

It was a classy thing to do, and the right thing to do, and should put an end to the nonsense of this incident. It would otherwise have continued to be a silly distraction from seriously unlawful behavior on the other side of the aisle.

She should have done what the Republicans do. Instead, she made Democratics look bat shit crazy and weak.

What would a Republican have done? Blame someone else for it... she thought it was an aide and deeply regrets the confusion, or the guard may have had a bad day and perhaps she could have handled him with more compassion.... etc.

She owned up to a mistake--good moral sense there--and she removed a political whip from the Republican arsenal--good politics, too. What's more, she did what Republicans never do. She took responsibility for her actions. Would a Republican do that? Never ever, not in a million years. I'm proud of her. She did right.

Republicans don't believe in responsibility. They believe in casting blame, making excuses, and then mouthing off about responsibility. The contrast couldnt' be more stark. We are the party of imperfect people who own up to their charges and they are the party of hypocrits and pedophiles.

McKinney should have done what a Republican would have done? Balderdash. She should have done what an adult would do. And she did. And she was right.

Amen to that. Far too few adults in DC and I'm getting sick and tired of being led by kindergartners.

But I think she may have been advised by party leaders to take the spotlight off herself while new facts were surfacing about the Plame leak.

More than one pundit today mentioned how this apology will take wind from the Republicans who want to avoid discussion of the Libby testimony.

Regardless of that, the lead story on Hannity and Colmes was still McKinney. They were really reaching on this, calling it a non-apology and claiming "it isn't good enough".

They can't keep this going though, and the story will have to be gone with the end of the week.
If I'm right that she was persueded by party leaders, then I'd have to say she's certainly a loyal democrat indeed.

I do agree that the slapping story should go away...Not because she's wrong or right, but because she can't be used as a tool for the criminals who seek to conceal their crimes against our democracy.

That was over the top.

While this is indeed a mountain out of a mole hill, she bears the primary responsibility for it.

It became surreal and something nobody was going to benefit from regardless of and at the same time because of the emotional overlay.

On edit: I wonder how long it will take the Republicans to stop cackling about this.
