Does anyone really believe DeLay is a very religious man?
There's a panel on Wash. Journal on CSPAN spouting how religious he is.
I find that hard to believe given how greasy he is, but does anyone
really believe this? Do ya think it's all an act to convince his
constituents he's holier than thou?

2. Tom worships
power. If he thought some higher being could give him power, he might pay attention for a little while. I think he's insane. So he very well could be religious. What does that prove? He is more fit? ahem

In my experience, the more ostentatiously religious a person is, the more it is all for show.

4. You MUST be kidding....I have a hard time thinking that any of the clowns
on parade have a shred of religion in them. If they truly feared God, they would not behave the way they do. No, I think that they simply understand the power of religion over the masses, and use it to their advantage to gain power.

5. Why, of course, Babylonsister...
He's religious about being a crook. Religious just means "force of habit", ie, I'm religious about brushing my teeth everyday, taking a hot shower and putting on my bullshit deflectors whenever dubya's talks..

they are not on Delay's side. :)

Missed the part you are asking about though, switched over to the chimps press conference... 3 minutes of "the economy is the best in history" and then practically ran from the room to avoid questions.

Which history? The history that starts NOW? Before he tears apart what remains?

I've dreamed of this day but never thought it would be so much fun watching him slide down the slippery slope.

10. He actually serves to undermine religion
Because if he was truly religious, and there really was a God such as the one described in his flavor of Christianity, he would have been struck by lightning a long time ago.

18. Read" the truth" by Al Franken
DeLay is throughly without morals or conscience.
He stopped legislation that would have stopped forced abortions in the Marianna's for donations from Abramoff. What DeLay worships is money and nothing else everything else is just window dressing.

He's religious like I'm a resident of Mango Pango. He's a panderer. Pure and simple. Anything for power. he is a student of the relgiously insane, but not one of them. he's simply a gangster and wants to be knighted into his church in the same way Michael Corleone wanted to be knighted by the Pope in the Godfather series. It is ALL to further his own personal power.

28. I think he really believes he is....
because these days, being religious only means:

1. discriminiating against gays
2. nosing in the affairs of a grieving family
3. making sure abortions are impossible to come by
4. helping to build mega churches the size of the Astrodome.
5. oh,and making sure the rapture happens right on schedule.

all that other stuff about "love thy neighbor" doesn't qualify you to be a Christian anymore, but by using the criteria above, Delay will get a one way ticket to salvation.

30. Only if one defines "religious" as a cult in terms of DeLay.
The hate oozes from his soul so, no, I wouldn't say he's religious in the Christian sense. His behavior is a good example of one who is at the top levels of a highly organized cult.

36. If you showed me that he was clinically insane, I'd say yes, he could be.
But I don't think he's nuts. I think he's power-drunk and puffed up beyond belief, so I think he manipulates the Christian Right like a lot of other Republicans.

He uses it as it suits him, often with dollar signs in the mix, and then as soon as the handshakes end, he goes back to skullduggery.

41. Church attendance
Delay does it because it plays well in the sticks.

Some fundies think that accepting Christ as their savior is some sort of get-out-of-sin card. They think that all they have to do is talk about Jesus and that makes them good Christians. Or better yet, they devote a few hours of their precious time or money to a religious charity and they are saved.

Sad.

He goes to church and basks in the sense that it makes him superior to those who don't.

Sounds about as religious as the next guy, but as Shania Twain says, "that don't impress me much."
