Female, Muslim student attacked on college campus
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 12:34 PM by slide to the left
This is at my alma mater. I was a Middle East studies student, so I am close to a lot of Muslims students. Here is a note from the Current Student Body President:

On Edit: Baylor University

This has been a very difficult week for many
of us. A week of sadness, anger, frustration and
perhaps even fear. Many of you have probably heard
by now about an attack that occurred this past
Saturday on our campus, a Baylor Muslim student
was violently attacked on her way to her dorm from
the SUB. A white male assumed to be in his 30s
approached her, pulled off her hijab (religious
head covering), and pushed her to the ground while
shouting things like, “You Arabian
<expletive>” and “You <expletive> Middle
Easterners and <expletive> Muslim.”
He told her
that if she made a noise he would kill her. At
first out of fear she was silent, but when she
realized he was not going to stop hitting her, she
began to scream. After she began screaming for
help, he slapped her, and when she persisted in
screaming, he quickly stood and kicked her twice
in the ribcage before running off. An emergency
room visit revealed torn muscle mass down her
ribcage, contusions on her back, and a torn
rotator cuff in her shoulder. Due to these
injuries, she has left campus and is currently
recovering at home with her family.

1. Very sad. We all need to express our outrage.
We had an exchange program with SA at my university, and many Saudi students on campus (several thousand).

When the Iran hostage crisis occurred in '81 things became very tense. I remember it well.

3. Is this Baylor University of
Waco, Texas, the Baptist school? Makes you wonder - who would Christ beat the hell out of?

5. Yes it is
But it wasn't a student that beat her up. Waco is very dangerous. IT is the 19th poorest city is the nation and the is a housing project near campus.

9. This is the kind of thing
that breaks my heart. However conservative Baylor might be, everyone is family, the students are really good at coming together when things happen.
