Prediction: if Lieberman drops out after Feb 3rd

I think if Lieberman drops out before Feb 3rd, he'll endorse Dean. Unlike a lot of Dean endorsements, this won't be "bandwagon" support. I think Lieberman may have some real problems with Clark, the lobbyist, the military man, the big government liberal, the radical anti-supply-sider. There are other reasons: Lieberman probably thought he was going to be the Clintonista choice this year and Clark is getting that distinction instead. Lieberman understands a guy like Dean--I don't think he quite "gets" southerners. But also Lieberman can be very legalistic (which accounts for some of his tone-deafness in interacting with the rest of the party). A mind like that may be more suspicious than most at the thought of a military man becoming president, despite the legacies of Washington, Eisenhower, and Jackson.

Thoughts?

I figure he would endorse Kerry. (There ARE other candidates in the race to endorse besides Dean and Clark).

They would kill eachother. I think you have had too much eggnog. I get your argument but it will never happen. Lieberman has a hard on for Dean. Him and Clark have had some nastiness too. I am not sure if a Lieberman endorsement is a good thing anyway. I suspect Lieberman would endorse a fellow congressman (not Kucinich) or Clark. I would be shoched if he endorsed Dean. Also the Gore thing probably plays in somehow.

I don't believe Lieberman thought he would be the Clinton choice: I really think he expected Gore to at least stay out of it, if not back him. Also, Lieberman knows that Clark is close to the Clintons. If Lieberman drops out, I imagine he will hush until the candidate is chosen and then do whatever the party tells him to; which might be to not even campaign.

He'll support Kerry, hoping it will help justify his voting for US imperialism.

I haven't the foggiest who he would endorse but I think he would sooner bathe in toxic waste than endorse Dean. On edit I have to say given the way he is running I am glad he wouldn't endorse Dean.

I think early March is when he'll make an endorsement.

Doesn't matter who the nominee is, he'll still try to overthrow them. Or maybe he'll endorse Bush, it wouldn't surprise me...

If he loses this shot Joe'll probably just sit back and wait until the election is over.

I doubt he'd endorse Dean until the nomination was sewed up. Then it would be party loyalty, earlier it would be crawling back with his tail between his legs to the guy who humiliated him by getting Gore's backing.

By the way, you get extra points for throwing "Clark, the lobbyist, the military man, the big government liberal, the radical anti-supply-sider" into your post, almost as if it were an aside. You could have ended that sentence with "Clark." but I guess the opportunity to take a shot at the man was just tickled you too much to let go by.
