Before the Chimp claimed the title - Who was the worse president ever!

Rolling Stones sums it up pretty well that Bush Jr. will probably go down as the worst president EVER. Can't say there's much of a disagreement with that one (although I'll always think of Reagan as worse for personal reasons).

Anyhow, before Bush Jr claimed the title of "Worse President Ever" who was the "Worst President Ever" and why.

I'd have to go with Reagan and he would be almost neck-n-neck with the chimp mainly because of his social spending cuts and massive military spending put us in the position of debt that we have today. Plus if Reagan had never gotten elected, I highly doubt that Poppy Bush would have ever been president and without a doubt the idiot would have never even run for governor. Junior was nothing more than a figurehead with a name that could pick up where things got interrupted when Clinton won in 1992.

So who is your title for WORST PRESIDENT EVER BEFORE BUSH JR

Nobody even comes close to Junior. He's in a class by himself, although his old man would have to be in the running.

Just the fact that Poppy Bush conceived Junior is enough for him to get first runner up.

everytime I see the anticipation of another terrorist attack as a political vehicle, for us or the the administration/Republicans.

This belittles humanity. Are we only moved by horror? Is every extremist action a conservative political tool?

The security of this nation, and indeed the world, is a noble goal, so why must potential future terrorist acts be hedged as Repug chicanery?

I stand guilty as charged on the cynicism, but remember, the most cynical people are often the most idealistic, the ones most loyal to romantic, lyrical constructs.

We aren't cynical on DU about the office of the president, but rather the current inhabitant of that office. It's the people's office and he has betrayed that spirit and conducted himself in manners most of us find appalling and repellent.

We seek a better world and we're cynical because it's the only mechanicsm we have for keeping cool-browed when someone like George W. Bush is given power.

The scale for bush is so large that we can't tell the difference between the others.

Many historians have said his administration was the most corrup[t and inept in US History. I've also read that the poor job he did while president helped to cause the Civil War.

He's absolutely the worst in my lifetime. It'd take some expertise to know who even comes close.
