Where is the Democratic response?
Yesterday, it was stated that Karl Rove was leaving one job in the White House so he could devote full time to political duties. This morning, that wretched wench, Mary Matalin, threw down the gauntlet and said that Karl Rove would be unleashed on the Democrats. OK...So it appears they have started their November campaigning already.

It's amazing they have any time to campaign since they are so busy stuffing their pockets with corrupt money. KArl Rove is still rather busy defending himself against the special prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald...And Mary Matalin was/is much too close to VP Cheney to start clucking so soon. "Unleash"? Indeed.

2. What exactly do you want the Dems to say?
Hell yea, Karl, bring it on? Mary is babbeling again, and actually that's her job.

The only response I can think of that might fit this situation is for the Dems to say something like "Just what devious tricks & lies is Karl trying to come up with THIS TIME, Mary?"

Dem Chairman Dean says Rove 'demotion is not enough'

RAW STORY
Published: Wednesday April 19, 2006

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement on Karl Rove's "demotion" to RAW STORY Wednesday.

#
"After having his hand in nearly every bad Bush policy decision and nearly every scandal that has consumed the Bush White House, it is not surprising that Karl Rove was demoted this morning. But, a demotion is not enough. From the collapse of the President's scheme to privatize social security to Rove's involvement in the outing of a covert CIA agent's identity while he still holds a security clearance, the President has abundant reason to fire Karl Rove.

"The Bush White House is merely engaging in window dressing. President Bush doesn't seem to understand that you can't just change the window dressing, you have to make changes in the Bush Administration's policies which have undermined America's security - from the economy to health care, our families and the war in Iraq."

35. They could grease up for a steel cage match with Ms Matalin on cable
but is that where swing voters are parked?

When I've tuned in what I hear repeatedly is one TV personality asking another if this will change anything at the WH. "No", they are told.

That sounds like the most advantageous message we could hope for on this particular issue.

"They don't say anything. I don't like where they say it. I don't like when they said it. I didn't like everything they said. I didn't like anything they said."

Can't please 'em all. Not all the time. Sometimes not even me but *this* time it's looking good.

Dean says Dems will attack
http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060420/NEWS07/604200575/1009

Committee Chairman Howard Dean said Wednesday he hopes to mount a coordinated attack this year that would enable Democrats to capture the 15 seats needed to control the House.

"We're going to position ourselves as the vehicle for change," Dean said. The Republicans can't do that, he said, because "they've been there for five years, and they can't get out of the responsibilities they have."

11. Paramount to survival
Compared to last time when the GOP in 2002 was nervous about the simplistic horror of the grand Rove strategy(fraud tacit or unrevealed) they leaked the idiotic "master plan" in a power point presentation.
And it was that simple and it worked thanks to cowed Dems and pushed tabulator buttons. Now there is a revolt of nerves enough to endanger the majority control- the only damn thing besides rivals that matter to the Bushistas. So they are going around like they are arranging a doll house in an earthquake, patiently shoring up the dolls until the tremors pass and they pretend show replete with Iranian War/ Terror incidents can replace reality and common sense again. They expect to impose- and must in their current legal straits this time!- the same simple dynamic over the chaotic landscape of nerves and speculations. The dolls will not walk away. The only bad thing this time are the actual indictments. But bush pardons are still waiting. More dictatorship is an easy step away and nothing has been done of substance to stop them.

Even without all the fuss the entire world is making over them, the same plan is going through as it must and as they can only repeat. They sent out Bush and Cheney to little effect except to bring pressure and money to bear on the queasy. People wise they failed. Congressional lapdogs however have been whipped into line, the stage set as before. The Dems think it is set one way but they do not believe in expressing their power until they win elections. The GOP sees it can keep power only by gaming, not campaigning, the elections. The key to that only possible career solution is Rove and the fraud machine and the Noise machine. Even people who did not believe Rove last time had to go along and mostly they won. Whatever they think now they will have to do the same as in 2002, but this time it will mostly all be is sheer volume of money, not effectiveness, not war popularity, not anything but more fraud.

If they have not made the charge that this occurs, then I have no evidence to go on.

They have PR people who call and have them booked on shows- I find it hard to believe that a TV show would deny an interview and give up the sure-fire ratings that a Hillary Clinton or Howard Dean appearance brings.

Who is banning these DEMS, and which DEMS have made this claim? Why do I see them on my TV so often if there is a ban?

53. Show me the article where top name Democrats were banned from shows.
I hear David Brock on Franken all the time- I've vistited that site too.

Show me what you are talking about- where does Hillary Clinton, her husband, John Kerry, Howard Dean, Obama Barrack, Harry Reid and other major party leaders make the claim that they were ever banned or refused a slot on a TV interview or debate show appearance? Where does Brock make that claim?

We know that the Republican owned media often does not aide our cause by repeating what was said on websites or at "conferences" and "releases" - but when have they ever not allowed the top, star, household named DEMS on those TV interview shows?

Where does it say in your link that the host held a gun to them and kept them from making one statement or another? Which DEMS are saying this?

Which hosts are not allowing these DEM leaders on their shows?

With all of this supposed evidence that our top leaders have no media access (even though I see them on TV with my own eyes every week), why are the top leaders of our party too frightened ever even mention it?

I've been asking these question at DU since '04- no one has yet to answer it- they just post the media matters link and that is supposed to be enough.

The reason we are not hearing adequate fighting words from Democrats on TV shows is not because they are banned, but simply because they dont say them.

Prove me wrong. I'll make gathering the evidence easier for you by accepting the mere accusation from one of the above mentioned DEMS as 100% proof.

You dont have to show me any stats, dates, networkks or anything- just the mere accusation from one of those DEMS that they were not allowed an interview or appearance on a TV news show at one point or the other.

57. Look - tv doesn't work the way you seem to think
The people appearing on those shows don't ask to be on them - they are asked by the producers of the show. You don't go to Tim Russert and ask, "Can I be on your show?" Tim Russert, or more correctly his producer, calls you up and asks you to be on his show.

And the media Matters report clearly shows a bias in the ratio of conservatives/liberals being asked on these shows.

I never said anything about Democrats not speaking up about this. I don't know where you got that from. And what you consider "adequate fighting words" and what I (or the DNC) or any random person on this board consider adequate fighting words are likely not the same thing.

--------------------

What's my experience in this? My wife worked in public television for 12 years. My brother in law worked in television for nearly the same amount of time. I volunteered. I knew the producers, many of whom had, at some point in their careers, worked for commercial tv. Even in public television, which you would expect to be more liberal, there was tremendous pressure from sponsors to slant things to a more conservative tilt.

To go back to my original post - it's not an "excuse" to say that Democrats face a bias in getting their message out through the medium of television. It's a reality.

55. Really?
I only heard that from a particular group, that sits around and drinks beer and watches Hardball.

I told them about Max Cleland showing up in Crawford Texas demanding Bush stop the swift boat attacks. I told them about vets all over the country speaking out, particulary McPeak because he's from Oregon. I told them about Kerry blasting Bush's blustering, erratic, whoop and hollar merry-go-round foreign policy since Jan 2003 and before. Then I told them the only way they were going to hear John Kerry was to turn on C-Span.

Unfortunately, some people don't have the strength of conviction to just stand straight up for Democrats or the Democratic Party. Republicans intimidate them and when they do vote for a Democrat, they add the caveat that they like his or her "independence".

So we can keep playing defense or pick up that 7 point plan and play offense. If you know the people who said that shit, copy 25 flyers a piece and tell them to quit bitching and get busy too.

I dont need to be told the shows are rigged. I need to know the solution to that supposed fact.

Telling me over and over that "the shows are rigged"- you would think after 8 years the DEMS would have a more agressive plan to combat that fact.

Stop using "the media is rigged" as a catch all excuse and start telling me WTF they are DOING about it.

I DO give them credit when they are ON TV being agressive and using hot phrases. It is not very often that I get that chance.

I dont give them credit when they put stuff on the internet or in a "release" and expect me to think that is fighting to win.

34. Here's an example of GOP getting attention, not us.
Wolf Blitzer mentioned Murtha's speech in PA today, just mentioned it. Like they were going to cover it. Then he goes to Dana Bash who gives Gerlach the Repub all kinds of attention.

They did not mention Murtha's speech again. They did not even say what he said. I see the audio or video is streaming at a Yahoo site, but I see no news covering it.

Nothing.

36. But I'll bet they would let him on those interview & debate shows.
I'll bet.

And he could say pretty much anything he wanted once on there.

39. Nice job Kentuck
Another divisive mud-slinging thread. With you around, Karl doesn't need to do anything.

Kerry's giving a HUGE speech tomorrow, where's your thread on that?

Dean has launched the nationwide Neighbor to Neighbor campaign, where's your daily threads on that? None of the do-nothing naysayers have even commented in the thread I posted.

This is nothin' but shit.

42. If you would get the sand out of your crack....
you would notice I gave a Democratic response in my post. If others wish to interpret and speak out, that is their right. Thanks for the comparison to Karl Rove. "Another divisive mud-slinging thread" ??

44. You mentioned names and the party????
Really? All you did was post a line of trash and then pretend your 3 sentence "response" would change the world. It's all you ever do. If you, and every whiner like you, put half as much energy in posting what Democrats are really saying and doing, we might actually be able to build some momentum in this country. It's interesting that the more Democrats actually do, the more these trashing threads get posted.

Are you a member of Congress? In your State House? On your city or county commission? Dogcatcher? Anything???
