What the fired CIA agent story is REALLY about - The CIA is broken
(NOTE: This is a rant)

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

First, to be clear, I called her an 'agent' without knowing what her job was. I heard she was the CIA's equivalernt of Internal Affairs .... but that's just plain beside the point.

Next, like it or not, hate it or not, the CIA - and the rest of our national intelligence apparatus - is a necessity, pure and simple. It may need some serious oversight, but to think about not having it ..... foolhardy to the max.

Those caveats being said for the benefit of the Parsers Swarm on an any thread about this sort of thing, the story:

The CIA is now oficially broken. Once again, the bushies have dealt serious harm to our national security with their partisan - **pure.fucking.partisan** - wagon-circling antics. This time the head circler was DCI and esteemed toady Porter Goss.

How is it they can find a leaker at the CIA who leaks a story about an administration-sanctioned unlawful act - rendition - but they can't find out who outted a real CIA covert operative?

How is it that Osama is still 'on the run'?

How is it that Former Leader Daschle and Tom Brokaw still don't know who sent them anthraxian greeting cards?

Today's news about the fired CIA 'leaker' (I prefer 'whistleblower', myownself) .... today's news has Cheney's fingerprints all the fuck over it.

These motherfuckers are DANGEROUS. They are imperiling our country like the 'terraists' can only hope to do.

Its all politics all the time for these shitbirds. NOTHING fucking matters but their hold on power. Fucking DICTATORS don't do this shit.

We NEED a CIA. But not the one they dispatched that fucking weasel Goss to build. Oh no. We need a CIA that is as contemplative as it is active. We need a CIA that conducts internal debates. We need a CIA that cultivates alternate opinions.

The LAST fucking thing we need is a syncophantic, religiously zealotous, lock-stepping cadre of operatives for a cult of personality.

These MOTHERFUCKERS have broken the CIA, the military, FEMA, and so much more.

If anyone has some visceral need to 'be protected', these fuckers are the LAST people they should be turning to.

I AM SO FUCKING ANGRY I COULD SPIT

AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

(I probably shouldn't be using smilies in this post. It ain't funny.

Its fucking SERIOUS shit.)

16. They've already broken the Air Force. CLoser to god are they.
The AF Academy is so christian oriented that I wonder just what orders they will follow a religious leader or a military leader.
It is one fucked up place. The brainwashing of our military flyers is a horror that we must stop. But we can't.

17. What media HASN'T discussed is that BushInc purged the CIA in Nov/Dec 2004
of all agents they suspected of working with Kerry. I bet they wished they had spoken out more and publically BEFORE the election - and wonder what they think about the voting machines they probably have heard of by now.

I wish the voting machine fraud people could somehow track down the purged agents, educate them about the rigging, and solicit their help.

4. Every Administrative Agency
Is under extreme pressure to bow down to the BFEE apparatchiks (sp?).
It is time for every federal worker to come to terms with the question, "Who are you working for?.... Bush or America?"

5. YOU DID SPIT! I had to get a paper towel!!!!
I don't think the CIA is broken at all. People at the CIA don't leak info because they usually see no reason to do so! This agent did because she is honorable, and released info because she was dismayed at what she saw the leaders of her country doing, and she KNEW it ws wrong!

I happen to think this is just the beginning of things coming out of the CIA. I have no way of knowing for sure, but my gut tells me the CIA is very pi**ed at this admin for outing one of their own, and they don't take that very kindly!!!!

8. Tell me about it!
He had such a fuming fit at MSNBC about Porter Goss, I had to threaten to take away his "TV privileges." It's bad for his health. (He can't make it halfway through a SOTU address.) ;)

6. Well, the important thing is silence. The CIA would be fine if it was
silent. But the recently published story that Langley's trust in the administration was going the same route as the general officers in the uniformed services just can't be tolerated.

Cheney just can't stand that possibility. There must be examples made. Heads must role, and I fear some will do so in the most literal sense.

My FAV part: "The LAST fucking thing we need is a syncophantic, religiously zealotous, lock-stepping cadre of operatives for a cult of personality."

No worries, we already have that Agency in place for decades - it's called the FBI. :puke:

13. It should have been obvious to everyone immediately after 9/11 ...
.. exactly what the Republican agenda was. Early stories made it clear that the FBI's info wasn't getting around. But instead of addressing the FBI, the Republicans set out on a long reorganization of any number of OTHER agencies, culminating with groups like the CIA. The common thread of all of these reorganizations has been: make the agency more susceptible to manipulation from the top.

14. Well, yeah, but the CIA was never really "ours" to begin with, was it?
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 01:12 AM by Beam Me Up
I'm a pudding brain know nothing but I don't trust the CIA, never have. Granted, we need an intelligence gathering capability but WHO (and or 'what') are they gathering intelligence FOR, exactly? Where, precisely, do their allegiances lie? I really have very little respect for what our government has done to the American people for the last century and when I look around at the world we've inherited, I have very little respect for how the CIA has played its cards. But, as I said, I'm a pudding brain know nothing so who cares what I think anyway?

Edit: stupid spell check!

15. Quoting the latest Sy Hersh New Yorker article,
"THE IRAN PLANS" (emphasis added):

If the order were to be given for an attack, the American combat troops now operating in Iran would be in position to mark the critical targets with laser beams, to insure bombing accuracy and to minimize civilian casualties. As of early winter, I was told by the government consultant with close ties to civilians in the Pentagon, the units were also working with minority groups in Iran, including the Azeris, in the north, the Baluchis, in the southeast, and the Kurds, in the northeast. The troops “are studying the terrain, and giving away walking-around money to ethnic tribes, and recruiting scouts from local tribes and shepherds,” the consultant said. One goal is to get “eyes on the ground”—quoting a line from “Othello,” he said, “Give me the ocular proof.” The broader aim, the consultant said, is to “encourage ethnic tensions” and undermine the regime.

The new mission for the combat troops is a product of Defense Secretary Rumsfeld’s long-standing interest in expanding the role of the military in covert operations, which was made official policy in the Pentagon’s Quadrennial Defense Review, published in February. Such activities, if conducted by C.I.A. operatives, would need a Presidential Finding and would have to be reported to key members of Congress.

“ ‘Force protection’ is the new buzzword,” the former senior intelligence official told me. He was referring to the Pentagon’s position that clandestine activities that can be broadly classified as preparing the battlefield or protecting troops are military, not intelligence, operations, and are therefore not subject to congressional oversight. “The guys in the Joint Chiefs of Staff say there are a lot of uncertainties in Iran,” he said. “We need to have more than what we had in Iraq. Now we have the green light to do everything we want.”

So, C.I.A. supplanted by the R.I.S.A. (Rummy Intelligence Secret Agency) already, at least in this kind of context... Ugh.
