Rice will finally sit in front of a judge and jury.

How come Andrew gets to get up? If he gets up, we'll all get up, IT'LL BE ANARCHY!
-Bender, from The Breakfast Club

Unequal treatment.

Almost 100 years ago, the US established a law prohibiting the transference of sensitive and confidential information during a time of war.

Now, the law is being used again to prosecute individuals for leaking information. Only this time, for the first time, lobbyists are being charged as well as government officials.

In the case of two of the defendants currently being charged, the defense has made a claim that the individuals were given the information by Rice, who should not have told them any secret or confidential information.

Their argument compelled the judge to issue subpoenas to Rice and others so the court can hear what really happened.

Finally, we get to see the National Security Adviser that took us to war with Iraq in front of a judge and jury. The judge is considering dismissing every case before him being charged under this statute in deference to free speech rights, claiming the law is vague.

This issue goes to the heart of all the woes of the Bush Administration. Like the Libby case, these individuals are exposing very serious leaks of classified information.

Besides, I'm ready for Rice to come home and start facing some of the music for her little "mushroom cloud" statement.

Newsday

1. I know Abbe Lowell
He doesn't bullshit.

This is the real goods, and he's in a good venue to get that flaming fuck of a Bush sycophant under oath. I would almost feel sorry for her, except I hope she explodes.

2. I don't know Abbe personally, but I've heard him quite a few times in
interviews. I'll be watching Condi's hands the next time whe's on TV...to see if they're really shaking badly! Condi has been protected her whole life, from what I can tell. I doubt she's prepared for Lowell!

5. Do you think this could be an "out" for AIPAC?

Could this be a cause for Elliot to toss the case?

WH tries (or succeeds in) quashing the subpoena and DoJ throws in the towel.

This whole thing is weird. I cannot believe the admin will allow a conviction for Franklin with all his appellant tentacles.

8. I think it's going to be a go
but watch for something to intervene - maybe Fuckface tosses a Presidential pardon (he can do it anytime he wants) - to make sure this prosecution doesn't go forth.

I find it hard to believe that any of this has happened, actually. Some serious disconnect here, for sure.

6. Now that's an edorsement that brightens my day!
Thanks OldLefty! I'm thrilled to learn of your familiarity with Lowell and his style of practice. Once Rice's balloon is popped, the last of their numbers will go below 50%...except for Laura.

Anything to get the people with money to look elsewhere for a government pawn.

Cheers,

Keo

4. What was the nature of the information she was supposed
to have leaked? Is this potentially big?

7. Basically, both secret and confidential National Security information.
Beyond that, we don't know details.

10. Just remember that the AIPAC thing involves a foreign power.
AIPAC doesn't want anyone to think that, because they're all good loyal Americans, but that's the reason why the charges were laid. AIPAC's gonna squeal to high heaven that this is unjust. And, how would I know it isn't? Maybe Rice really did do the same stuff. To a lobbyist. For the purpose of transferring the information to a foreign power. So we'll see. If it's about who gets to do that and who doesn't.... we'll see.
