Anyone listening to the speech Bush is making on CNN?
My wife is screaming in fustration. Bush is basically blaming the citizens of the U.S. for the oil problem and saying that it is going to compromise our National Security.

My wife is screaming that "His" administration and other in the pass who have created this dependency. She's like "Have they bothered to fix of the railways? Didn't they try to destroy Amtrak?

Anyone else want to join my wife in head spinning?

1. I feel dumber after watching him speak
and intellectually insulted. So I don't watch him speak.

3. I agree, but have to add confused.
I usually end up confused by what he says.

That and lied to, I hate being lied to.

7. If that is your only concern
just remember that this is W you're watching, and he operates on a different plane than the rest of us. The platitudes that come out of his mouth merely reflect reality as he sees it, and do not apply in the real world. The lies? just an effort to reinforce his flawed world view.

It's funny watching him these days, he still speaks as if from a position of strength, where his words actually mean something to the American public. He doesn't get that the people just don't trust him anymore, or take what he says seriously.

6. He really is pathetic. But, Europe is right. They should blame us
for not marching and for not yelling at Republicans in the face for being so dumb stupid to vote this asshat into office.

8. He promises to "crack down" on price gouging...
and he does it with a straight face (I mean, his standard plastic smirk). George, I'll believe it when I see it and I'm confident, unfortunately, that I'll never see it.

It's funny though, any other president--you know, those who never had any links to the Oil Industry (much less scores of them)--would have been publicly lynched by now, blamed entirely for this runaway Oil for Extreme Profit program**. Alas, the public seems merely confused and the primary source of public opinion--the media--simply supports that confusion by acting timidly confused and merely repeating what they're told by the Bush Administration. Somehow people aren't holding this President to blame; even though he isn't as forgiving as we are and even has the audacity to blame us for the prices.

In the past, it wouldn't have been entirely fair to blame the President for gasoline prices--they weren't truly responsible or capable of controlling them... That's less true for the current office holder than ever; yet he mostly gets a pass. It's time we stopped giving him the benefit of the doubt (for never in history has a President caused so many doubts) and started giving him the business end of massive public demonstrations (demanding lower gas prices; demanding his impeachment; demanding his resignation; demeaning him for blaming us, and so on).

**PNA-OI (similar to PNAC): Project for the New American Oil Industry - a project involving top oil executives and their political operatives (Bush Administration) the primary objectives of which are the distractive oppression of the American People and the maximization of all oil related profit centers (side benefit: reassertion of the supremacy of the Oil Industry within the U.S. economy).

13. Is it just me or is he slurring his words more & more? I didn't watch
the whole thing, just a snippet on NBC Nightly News. I try not to listen to or watch him any more than my stomach can handle. But seriously, he's got something major health-wise wrong with him or he's drunk as a skunk all the time now.
