1. With all due respect...
I do not believe that the GOP is going to put up a black female whose credentials are questioned by every constituency including RWers. They do not gain sufficiently from her candidacy and her tenure(s) will, IMO, be the over-riding issue of the campaign. My guess is some pretty, but male, Repub Governor who is relatively unknown outside of his state.

5. mcCain has already blown it.
straight talk is cheap - at least if it is cheapened by bending over and offering KY Jelly to Jerry Falwell. His swing to the right has eviscerated the moderates in the GOP and has nailed his coffin with any and all indie voters. he just doesn't know it yet.

If he runs on a platform of Bush, he will be lucky to earn 33% Yet, he is trying that right now.
If he runs to the right, seeking lower taxes, lower deficits, and anti-abortion, he will be lucky to earn 20%.
If he swings back to the center, which he needs to do to gather in the majority of America, he will lose his conservative base, such as it is, he will lose the liberals, which he never had, he will lose the moderates who will trust him as far as they can throw him, and he will lose the indie votes, who will see him for what he really is - a pandering piece of shit pol who will say anything to get elected.

6. I would normally agree with you except
that Amurkins have no memory This Falwell business will be ancient history two years from now...if Falwell were dead or ineffective, it would be "Jerry who?" Never underestimate stupidity of the electorate. And nobody watches these programs which you and I watch, so they are rarely reminded of the past.

7. I agree with your first choice
My prediction: John McCain/Jeb Bush

McCain's campaign is being run by the well-oiled Bush machine that bulldozed all opponents to establish blivet Junior in the White House. Jebthro would be the running mate of choice in order to continue the line of Bush succession (Jeb can slide into the presidency in 2012 or 2016). Rice would do nothing to strengthen the ticket - most black voters see her for the Bushbot she is and will refuse to support her, and typical angry-white-men Repub voters are averse to voting black (female black in particular).

Father Goose. I loved that line. Wondering if anyone else would catch it.
