What's the point of offering polls without all the current candidates?

What's the point of offering polls without all the current candidates?
I won't vote in those cause they're meaningless. I feel like it's some way to bring attention to those candidates who are behind, but honestly, I don't think it is working.

I personally thought it the single-most ridiculous thread I've seen at DU, which should be obvious from my last several posts in it. I couldn't stop laughing, at first. :P
