1. Who is Survey USA and why do they call it
"Democrat Primary"? Reeks of RW bias.

10. I'm getting so tired of that - so I wrote them
Editor:

I was reading your site and noticed that on several occasions, you have polls listed as those being from the "Democrat Primary."

The word that should be used is "Democratic." "Democrat" is the noun and Democratic is the adjective; therefore to describe the primary or the party, one would say, the "Democratic Primary."

I keep hearing people use this incorrect grammar all the time recently and I’m not quite sure why, but it makes these people sound as though they've never taken an English course. We don’t call it the "Republic" Party, for example.

I would appreciate your helping to help citizens use proper grammar.

Thank you,

19. You're right. It's always a dead giveaway.
There are republicans behind this. It's just a matter of finding their agenda.

2. You do realize this is not the Congressman
Dennis Kucinich-- it's his brother running in the Primary for the Congressional seat being vacated by Sherrod Brown.

3. I can't even identify the rest of the names on this poll OTOMH.
Makes the poll suspect that a news junkie such as myself doen't know "Sutton" or "Sawyer" immediately.

7. Here's a link
Edited on Thu Apr-27-06 02:08 PM by Schmajo
to a fairly recent thread in the Ohio forum that deals with some of this. Tom Sawyer is a former congressman and former mayor of Akron (I believe). Cafaro is of the infamous Youngstown area family.

8. KBlagburn, you really should identify which Kucinich this is, in your
subject line. Many people just glance down at thread titles, to see what-all's going, and don't click on all threads to get details--and they will get the wrong impression.

15. That's GARY KUCINICH, his brother
Gary is running in the Dem primary in Ohio's 13th District - Sherrod Brown's seat. Sherrod is running for Ohio Senate against DeWine. Dennis is in the 10th District.

Gary is really doing pretty well against the others in this race, I don't think he's held elective office before. He's a nice guy, looks and sounds a lot like Dennis, if you added about 15 lbs.

18. Hey Ozark
I'm not trying to disparage Gary Kucinich, but was he the Kucinich brother who was caught mooning from a car back when Dennis was mayor?

20. Hahaha!
I don't know. I haven't lived in Ohio that long. He may have been, though I'd guess his mooning days are over.

My feeling is he's in the race to help split the labor vote. Capri Cafaro is spending her millions and Gary may have wanted to split labor's support of her.

I'm really sweating this 13th District race. Someone is giving Betty Sutton a lot of money, her ads and mailings are voluminous.
Yet she would stand no chance of winning against the GOP candidate here. Whoever is giving her money (pro GOP labor leaders, the same ones who got rid of Sawyer) is doing so knowing that a victory for her or Cafaro will give the seat to the GOP.

I think its time that Dems in Ohio accepted the reality that certain Labor leaders in this state support the GOP and actively work to screw up Dem elections. I've watched it happen time and time again - labor gets into a race and backs a bad Dem candidate or runs their election poorly and the GOP comes out the winner.

If Tom Sawyer doesn't win the 13th District primary, Dems will lose this Congressional seat, period.
