Incredible Essay by a college student
I have often wished I studied harder and learned to write like Julie. Yes. She supports Dean so all Lemmings can put on your blinders and skip it. But, If you truly love the Democratic party you must read this lengthy essay.

"...I'm not saying that we should blithely ignore the enormous influence the media will have on who wins this election, but a critical understanding of this influence requires looking at the forces behind how the newsmakers are spinning Kerry, and considering the directions these forces are likely to shape the campaign in over time.... 1. I was musing this morning about the incredible fire of college-age
students, and those of us with such years behind us often wish we still had that same fire and idealism, because we must believe in the impossible in order to attain merely the improbable.

Yet, paradoxically, Dean's campaign is mocked over and over because it's filled with starry-eyed idealists of tender age. And Dean is mocked because he feels that same passion, still, after all these years. That pep rally in Iowa would never have occurred with supporters in their late twenties and early thirties. The tone would have been subdued, tailored to a more "mature" audience.

The empathy of Dean is his double-edged sword, and the media has sliced him and diced him for his ability to touch the young, to stir them, to arouse them to fulfill a dream they dared not imagine before he came on the scene, the dream that one man, or one woman, can indeed make a difference.

What does America do to men like Howard Dean? Or, for that matter, Dennis Kucinich? Sends them to the sidelines, into the shadows. We must turn this thing around, for the sake of those who are still willing to believe, for the sake of those like Julie.

Thank you, New Hampster, for posting this.

3. I wrote this.. I'm in college
There's a lot of excellent essays in college papers these days. I don't wanna gloat, but figured those who enjoyed her essay would enjoy mine too.

It was printed in my hometown paper, and my school paper. Enjoy.
