Bush Blows Gasket Over Colbert routine! HA HA HA!
Well, it looks like Stephen Colbert really got under the president's skin this weekend. From US News:

Comedy Central star Stephen Colbert's biting routine at the White House Correspondents Association dinner won a rare silent protest from Bush aides and supporters Saturday when several independently left before he finished.

"Colbert crossed the line," said one top Bush aide, who rushed out of the hotel as soon as Colbert finished. Another said that the president was visibly angered by the sharp lines that kept coming.

"I've been there before, and I can see that he is (angry)," said a former top aide. "He's got that look that he's ready to blow."

As Wolcott says, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! My sincerest congratulations to Colbert for using his time mere feet away from The Man himself to launch a surprise comedic attack that get's the president's (pet) goat.

More from Raw Story and some additional commentary from John at Americablog

Maybe the pressures of being a lying murderer are getting to the worthless bastard. Go have a big strong drink george. Several of them.

I'd love to see Dave really come over to our side. I think he's almost there... (I'll bet he laughed at Colbert on Saturday night...)

Colbert put the reality of his lies in front of his face.:sarcasm:

Edited on Tue May-02-06 02:04 PM by AndyA
1. You are not liked. By Americans, by Europeans, by anyone except your cronies.

2. You are a liar. And everyone, everyone knows it.

3. You are not a Christian. You do nothing that is Christian. In fact, everything you do is very un-Christian.

4. You are generally viewed as an idiot.

5. We all know about your drinking and drug problems.

6. You are most interested in helping your rich buddies instead of doing anything good - much less worthwhile - for the American people.

7. The whole world knows there was no reason for the war in Iraq.

8. There are a lot more people who know about Jeff Gannon than you'd be comfortable with.

So, Little Lord Pissypants, go get angry. The anger you feel will never equal the anger the world feels toward you.

15. Why do you hate America?
Okay so he's not liked. And "generally" being viewed as an idiot. Is that really that bad? And he says he doesn't have a drinking problem. "He" had a reason to go to war in Iraq. And what's wrong with a little jeff gannon action in the oval office?

Andy, you go stand in the corner and think about that attitude of yours.

23. We all have to keep in mind
The American Public does not care about the truth. Its part of the intricate gop plan for success.

Sadly, so many Americans don't care about the truth, they call themselves "conservatives."

33. I hate to bring up another comparison to a certain disliked German leader
from the '30s and '40s, but given that the world is more populated and better connected, I would contend that more people hate Chimpy McWarhardon than any other primate in the entire history of the world

8. I think Bush finally figured out Colbert was being satirical.
I think Bush is one of those guys that has been watching Colbert all this time and not getting it. To him Colbert just talks like a republican and gets cheers and laughs from the audience, and Bush laughs along too, not getting it.

25. I adore Wolcott
and have him at the top of the list for my fantasy dinner party. His crack about Bumiller was wonderful, a great visual, and well within probability.

I think he's right about the smut, but what can you say about Stupid but that he's utterly sexless? Even Colbert was unequal to that job.

The whole comparison with Imus was perfect!

"See, that was Colbert's mistake. He didn't slip in any smutty lines. Had he done so, his standup would have been impossible to ignore as the Fox News hotheads would have gone into full outrage mode to defend the honor of Laura Bush and her virgin ears. "

Amazing, insanity at the WH...offended by words, they launch a furious bombing raid in
some unspecified part of the world because it was the bosses idea. That's about it.

Give me a break WH. You are the very worst leaders any country has ever had, the worst.

Your minions at the dinner heard the truth. Get used to it. It will only get "truthier."
