Why is the prostitution thing a scandal?
Because of "conservative" values? Isn't it ironic that the media machine has to report on the actions of the hypocrites who flaunt their "values" like a peacock does his feathers while paying for sex in secret?

2. Second that. It's not the hookers, it's the public that gets screwed. . .
that's the real scandal in all this. If it was a simple story of hypocrisy, it wouldn't play so resoundingly. That hookers and sex were used to game the system -- there's the outrage.

4. Isn't it ILLEGAL?
Aren't there actually corrupt acts here involving lobbiest funds used to finance criminal behavior? Monica and Bill had consensual sex. These corrupt asshats were buying sex, which outside of some counties in nevada is generally against the law. If in fact there was an organized effort to provide prostitutes to government officials, that would be a conspiracy to commit a felony. You know, like there are a lot of laws on the books that go something like this: "Any person who induces, compels, entices, or procures another person to engage in acts as a prostitute shall be guilty of a felony...".

9. Because it's more entertaining than people without health insurance.
I don't really care that it's a black-eye for the GOP. It's still a distraction from important issues like health care, Iraq, and the economy. Until the national dialogue turns to a reasoned discussion of these issues, our leadership will continue to be weak.

After all the scandals the GOP has been embroiled in over the last five years, it's really hard to believe that this prostitution nonsense will do anymore than cause the poll numbers to drop a couple of points for a week or two. But since it involves sex, the 24-hour tabloid stations like CNN will give it more exposure at the expense of real news.
