Republicans could feel voters' ire

Election has potential to be referendum on governor

By Mary Beth Schneider

Voters won't find Gov. Mitch Daniels' name on the ballot when they go to the polls this fall, but the election may be a referendum on his administration.

Unable to vote directly on the first-term Republican governor, many voters could turn to the next best thing, according to Robert Dion, an assistant professor of American politics at the University of Evansville:

Republican lawmakers who will be on the ballot.

Former House Speaker John Gregg, a Democratic attorney who also hosts a radio talk show, sees a Democratic tide coming that will wash out Republican incumbents.

"People are mad at Congress. Mad at the president. Mad at the war. Mad at gas prices. Mad at Governor Daniels," he said. "But if Democrats get in and do the same-old, same-old, they'll throw them right back out."

1. Gee, I can't for the life of me think why that would be . . .
I mean, just because the GOP has turned the country completely to shit in the last six years is no reason for voters to decide to turn them out of office, is it? Durned librul media!

3. Are there any Freudians in the house? Can we get a reading on Mitch
Daniels and the so-called small-man complex?

He struts around talking like a longshoreman and has made several enemies on the political front since taking office in Indiana.

He doesn't seem to smile very much either.

He reminds me of a verticle scorpion.
