Poll Clerk Phil Baity and his wife arrived early to handle big crowds at a voter precinct in Fort Mill. But their early opening did not bring in the masses. A half-hour into the 12-hour election window, only a handful of people voted.

She was conducting exit polls for major television networks as part of a class assignment.

"It's non-partisan," Croskey said about the exit polls. "It's going to be turned into CNN, Fox, NBC."

But her first hour on the job was spent waiting. She, too, had gotten up early in anticipation of a large group.

"It's very slow today," she said. "I thought there would be more traffic, more voters."

was just in a slow area that normally has little traffic. :shrug:
