If dems win, they'll prove we are crooks - gop election strategy
NY Times has a nice article about the fear inside karl rove's head. The latest gop "idea," "conservatives" have to keep us in office to prevent democrats from having investigations and proving that we are liars and crooks and evil sumbitches. Helluvan election strategy. No doubt such an "idea" will resonate with that solid 32% of flag wavers who have no desire to know the truth about their heros. I didn't think it was possible but I do believe it sucks more today being a "conservative" then it did yesterday.

The gop. The party of ideas!

1. I'm torn ...
Edited on Mon May-08-06 09:35 AM by ShortnFiery
My area's so right wing, we haven't enjoyed a Democratic representative the entire ten years I've lived in this area. Lord help us here in VA, with Allen as our Senator. Now Warner's stances are as bizarre, however, as a person, Ole' John, IMO, really believes this stuff.

Part of me WANTS the Republicans to keep control. Why? Let them FUBAR the functioning of Our Congress. That way, when 2008 elections surface, NO AMOUNT OF SPIN will get Republicans elected. Like they've demonized the word "liberal" come 2008 the mere mention "republican" with be met with SCORN. ;)

Therefore, why not implement "the Hail Mary strategy" of truly making this mid-term election ON IMPEACHMENT? Really, the Republicans do not know, for sure, that our VALID desire to strive for accountability will drive people away from the polls.

I'm so tired of being a "scardy cat" democrat.

Yes, I'm with Nancy Pelosi, "well see what our actions (investigations) lead to."

Someone should get to Dean?

No more feet of clay!

2. I agree with your logic
Maybe the dem 2006 campaign should be "careful what you ask for karl." If they keep control of 2008 and continue being themselves, the gop may be in permanent minority status after that. karl probably doesn't care, he may figure he'll be in Leavenworth by then.

4. Excellent Bosshog, and the added benefit is ...

The odds of us kicking out the entrenched incumbents are "on the outside" to begin with. When 2008 comes, they will despise the * Administration as much as we do. THEN we can proudly say, "Please listen up, for we told you so back in 2006."

What has "playing it safe" done for us? NOTHING!

Our leaders can be more diplomatic and use the words Investigation and Accountability. But there should be no effort on Our Leader's part to tamp down the base crying out for "impeachment."

Joe centrist is more disconcerted by the Right Wing "Jesus Freaks" and Neo-Con warmongers than the liberal base's efforts to hold the * Cabal responsible for what they have done to our country.

The Democratic Leaders should unleash those of us on the left ... no comments ... they then can tout their more accommodating logic to the masses.

Sorry, but I for one - Liberal - am tired of being criticized by my fellow Democrats. IMO it's beyond time to cut us some slack. :hi:

3. Too true. That would be a pretty powerful argument.
Almost never works.

6. CODE OF ETHICS WILL STOP A LOT OF COMMITTEES
Edited on Mon May-08-06 10:21 AM by APPLE314
THERE IS A TACIT AGREEMENT AMONG THE PEOPLE WE HAVE IN WASHINGTON CONCERNING HOW TO HANDLE AN EXCHANGE OF POWER. THEY HAVE ALREADY AGREED TO NOT UPSET ALL THE APPLE CARTS IF THE DEMS WIN CONTROL. THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE IN WASHINGTON THAT KNOW WHERE ALL THE BODIES ARE BURIED. SUBSEQUENTLY NOT TOO MUCH WILL COME FORWARD BECAUSE THE TUNE OF THE DAY IS "IF I GO DOWN, SO WILL YOU." IT'S A DAMNED SHAME BUT IT'S THE TRUTH.

7. Agreed but many of the sheeple are waking up to being
aware and downright pissed off! ... I will not be silenced just because the leadership (Dean, etc) TELLS ME TO. The Democratic Leadership should NOT disavow their base just because they're afraid of KKKarls future smear campaigns. That's gutless running scared, not courageous campaigning.

If the Democratic Leadership is smart, they can allow us to be vocal without slamming us.

But no, they will trash the left for demanding justice.

I hope the Democrats haven't sold out the "little people" in favor of the investor classes.

Time will tell. :-)
