7. by the way, a prof I know has noted that honorary degree recipients
... get to keep the hood, but not the gown (she helped organize convocation ceremonies for years and knows the protocol pretty well).

What bets Bush swiped that nice blue Yale outfit? Or kicked up such a fuss when it came time to hand back the regalia, that they caved in rather than have him create a big scene. The gowns can cost hundreds of dollars ... even those who earn PhDs have to pay for them ... and with a 400k salary, he can afford to throw his alma mater some change.
