I was at the Emily's List luncheon today! Shook hands with Tammy Duckworth

Although the weather absolutely sucked although not as much as trying to find the parking garage in downtown Silver Springs, MD - it was an amazing luncheon today for Emily's List. I joined DUer Ramsey along with her family (her mother-in-law went down to DC with me) and it was a very amazing & empowering luncheon. The guest speakers were Major Tammy Duckworth, who is running for congress in IL-06 (Henry Hyde's old seat). What a dynamic woman who has a great message and has been through so much (she lost her legs when her Blackhawk crashed in Iraq a few years ago). She actually was able to walk to the podium and although you could see there was a seat behind the podium for her to use if need be, she stood the entire time. She also introduced the main speaker - Barack Obama. This man is going places and seriously, I see him on the presidental ticket someday soon. Amazing speaker who got the crowd going.

After we left he happened to run into Tammy Duckworth. Now mind you, I just wanted to get a picture of her but Ramsey insisted on getting me in the picture but I was merely just going to stand behind her. Next thing I know this hand grabs me and she pulls me in saying if I want a picture I need to pose with her. We talked for a few minutes and her campaign manager handed me her card which happened to be the card for Kathleen Sebelius, governor of Kansas. But the she handed me the right card.
