Who will Bush sacrifice next to the bad-approval-ratings gods?
Clearly, the terrible twenties call for someone weightier and higher profile than Andy Card to take one for the team. And given that - Karl Rove is GOING TO BE INDICTED!!! - I think he will be the perfect scapegoat to get things rolling. Just in the last two weeks they've already tossed McClellan and Goss. They're running out of bodies already! But the fun is just getting started. :)

So let's have a Bush admin dead pool: who's your candidate for the next round of Deadweight Overboard?

1. Hayden may be on the chopping block.
Just dawned on me. He's putting people in place who are responsible for the high crimes and misdemeanors. It's like he's saying, you created this problem, you fix it or take the fall.

2. Hayden might be "MIERS'ed"
The latest info on Spying on Americans is going to do him in - but it's going to depend on timing.

If his hearing is NOT delayed/stalled and it looks like he will be questioned about spying - either bush or hayden will withdraw the nomination.

However, if the rubber-stamping kool-aid drinking Republicans can stall the hearings until AFTER their next congressional recess - bush will just sneak hayden in through the back door ala recess appointment

The only thing bush and his rubberstampers are hearing are our phone calls to our Aunt Fannys.

4. I can only think of the Bush team as incompetent and corrupt.
Edited on Fri May-12-06 05:36 AM by Old Crusoe
And I'm guessing they won't replace incompetent and corrupt people with competent, law-abiders, and that any replacements will have to be either incompetent or corrupt or both.

It's time for the GOP Senate stalwarts to schedule a little meeting with Dubya and lay down a few rules for this summer and fall, as in, "Look, you little jerk. If you want funding and legislative support from us for your lame-brained initiatives, you're going to have to make SIGNIFICANT changes in your incompetent and corrupt administration and staff, so the party's election night on Nov. 7th isn't a goddamned slaughterhouse."

That could happen. That could not happen. I have no idea. But unless Bush concedes to major staff changes, that 29% approval rating is going to keep dropping.

5. What about Gonzales?
Edited on Fri May-12-06 05:38 AM by terrya
If he did lie to Congress about the NSA program, I think Bush will throw him overboard. Somewhere along the way.

IMO.

6. Gonzales scares me as much as any of them.
It's obvious that he has no principles at all and will say anything the chimp tells him to. To state that he is a failure as AG is obvious and unnecessary. As someone who advocates and allows torture committed by the government - my government - Gonzales has landed in in my personal Axis of Evil, along with Vice President Dick and the rest of these sorry criminals.

8. Gonzalez is a Republican twofer.
He's a member of a minority group AND he'll lie through his teeth as a party loyalist. Two for the price of one.
