1. Because they're morally corrupt?
Or it might be because the bill contains some relief from the AMT.

2. Because they're DINOs
If you're a sad type like me who pays attention to Senate votes, you'll find those 3 are among the top to vote for what Bushco wants

3. They are all red state senators
and those tend vote with republicans more than blue state senators.

5. A MN rep (Peterson w/a big Red D after his name) voted for it
He's in a rural farming community.

I bet he loses his seat unless the rich corporate farmers can buy it for him.

4. I can't understand how any Congresscritter can justify this at home
How many of their constituents earn >$1 million a year? How many are members of the investor class?

They spin it as a new "trickle down" scam. I hope people refuse to buy it this time.

7. This is what galls me
If the Democrats get back the House and Senate in the fall, next year these same Senators will be pushing for increase in income taxes in the name of "fiscal responsibility". Mark my words.

Why do they support cutting taxes on wealth when we are $8 trillion dollar debt? Just who do they think is going to pay that bill? If you cut taxes on wealth, you eventually have to raise taxes on the working stiffs in this country.

But the working stiffs don't write $2000 campaign checks, do they?

9. Because they're rich and want more? Because they are in the pockets
of rich people that want more?

10. Red States. Re-election. AMT
Probably a combination of those three factors. All are from fairly red states. Nelson and Nelson are up for re-election this year and Pryor in 2008. The bill gives AMT relief to "middle" income families and these guys probably felt like that was enough (or feared being hammered for voting against AMT relief) to swallow the package even though it also extended cuts for the wealthy.

11. Because it was going to pass with or without them
The same thing with the Rs' "Nay" votes. Snowe and Chaffee face re-election bids in blue states. This gives them something to run on. Same with the Democratic Senators in red states who voted Aye.

The votes are counted long before the rollcall.
