A question for Mother's Day: why did we invade Iraq, anyway?
Reading about how we're so low on troops that we're actually sending mentally ill soldiers into battle, can't help but make a decent person ask "for what!?"

It makes me think of two mothers — Cindy Sheehan, who dared think through all the soothing "patriotic" lies and asked that very question -- and won't stop asking it until the rest of the country is finally asking it, too.

And Barbara Bush, who could have saved tens of thousands of lives if she'd dealt with her son's mommy issues, so he wouldn't take them out on the rest of us.

So, my theory is that we're there because Oedipus Bush was an easy mark for the PNAC imperialists, to help him earn mommy's love by winning the rematch of the, er, "Mother of All Wars."

I feel bad talking trash about someone's mama, but damn, this domestic situation sure could have used an intervention.

Anyway, why do *you* think we're there?

4. No one could have anticipated...
... that Bush would stop thinking about OBL.

But we should thank Jesus for telling him to shift his focus. If we hadn't invaded Iraq and killed tens of thousands of its citizens, we might never have found out that they have terrorists who hate Americans. Then where would we be?

3. Because
Cheney et al. had big plans for the oil there, and because, in Fuckface's immortal quote, "He tried to kill mah Daddy."

That's why.

Don't you think that's a huge comfort to all the surviving families - American and Iraqi - of those who have been killed and maimed for this?

8. I think the latest is,,,
"Maybe we didn't have a good reason, but now that we're there we have to win."

They'll need to replace that one, once we start ramping down the troops so the GOP looks better going into the mid-term elections.
