Another Public Opinion Lie?
Not only are the MSM reporting nonsense polls trying to spin the notion that most of the public either don't mind or are in favor of the NSA accessing and storing their phone records (and who knows what else that includes), but CNN goes so far as to try to promote the idea that Bush might even enjoy a boost in his approval rating as a result (frame: since everyone accepts NSA spying on their phone records, naturally their approval of the man who ordered it will increase)(seems a bit of a reach)...

"There was a time -- say, four years and nine months ago -- when news that the government has been gathering up phone records might have the makings of a scandal, or even a constitutional crisis. But while there have been protests from civil libertarians and some criticism on Capitol Hill, early indications suggest the disclosures could actually give a political boost to a president who hasn't had many of those lately."

Of course, they can design a poll to reach any conclusion they want and they're plainly not too proud to resort to such tactics. Rather, it seems to me this media created game of pretending everyone supports every asinine thing Bush does promotes widespread... nausea. It would seem that those who keep claiming the media is 'down on Bush' are being somewhat selective in their observations.

1. if there's some widespread conspiracy to present fake polls

2. "The Republicans are tougher on National Security"
Seems to be their trump card. They're going to play it for all its worth. And yet, more of our currently-serving senators and reps who have actually served in the armed forces are Dems.
