Gore: Tide turning on global warming
http://www.dailycamera.com/bdc/county_news/article/0,1713,BDC_2423_4697798,00.html

Former Vice President Al Gore's whirlwind national campaign hit Denver on Thursday. His mission: promotion, officially as part of a press tour for his upcoming Paramount Classics film "An Inconvenient Truth" and a book of the same title.

Unofficially, Gore is evangelizing a long-standing passion. The movie is based on a high-tech "slide show," as Gore calls it, which he estimates to have presented more than 1,000 times over the decades.

With stunning animated graphics, Gore deliberately and often mercilessly presents the scientific basis for global warming, its current manifestations and the future risks of what he calls "the climate crisis." He shows collapsing ice sheets and glaciers, Alaskan trees "drunk" from melting tundra, and climbing carbon-dioxide levels.

The film also follows Gore home to Nashville, Tenn., to China and even to 1960s-era Harvard, where the viewer learns that Gore's views on climate change were first shaped by Roger Revelle, the scientist who hired Charles David Keeling. Keeling took the first long-term measurements of atmospheric carbon-dioxide starting in 1958; The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Boulder continues the work today.

1. I have said this before and I'll say again.
If Al Gore says he is going to the restroom, I am kicking and recommending.

5. Pardon me if I am being rude, but Mr. President is the correct title.
Thank you! :) My pet peeve.

Gore is the president in exile who has not been allowed to serve his term.

7. Living in Alaska, I am scared to read global warming articles. It
takes me a couple of days to work up the nerve. What does it mean the tide is turning? Good things? Thanks for reading it for me. I can hardly bear this stuff, my friends. It is so scary.

11. Good things...people are paying attention
and realizing we have to take immediate action. I was scared when I read the title, also.

13. thank you so much, honey. this is good news. you can see the
damned changes up here. Trees are actually tipping and places like Shishmaref out in the boonies where nothing melts below a certain point are having to move their villages.
