After watching CNN this morning, I know why they tapped Snow for Press Sec
Tony Snow did something this morning that I never saw Scott McClellan or Ari Fleischer do... or, for that matter, Mike McCurry or any other press sec. in memory. Rather than give a briefing from inside the White House, he gave a briefing about the NSA thing from in front of the White House lawn, where all the reporters do their spots.

Thus, with his broadcast inflection and recognizability as a broadcast journalist, coupled with his briefings from the area traditionally reserved for news spots, not White House statements, Tony Snow makes it appear as if White House propaganda is the objective news. Anyone else notice that? Or is it just me?

3. Sure they do...
I know it's a scary thing to admit, but, despite falling recently in the ratings, Fox remains the No. 1 cable news show in the country. People watch it. Smart people even watch it. And even some of them take it seriously.

And besides that, where Tony Snow came from doesn't matter when you're seeing him spouting this crap on CNN, looking like a reporter when he does it.

2. I noticed it too - and thought the same thing.
At first I was puzzled (does not compute!) then realized what he was doing - speaking from the lawn as a reporter! He sounded like a reporter and the whole thing was very odd.

Good analysis. :hi:

4. "makes it appear as if White House propaganda is the objective news"

Boy, he better be really good to pull that off.

Good point on the Snow appointment.

6. I guess people have come to the conclusion
that anything said in the WH Press Room is a lie. Moving the venue will add a few hours of support for a few of the remaining 29% backwash.
